☄ For both of them to accidentally get bitten by a furious dog.
No because fuck dogs, especially the small ones!!! It was the fall of 2019, both bundled in sweaters and jeans that they thrifted together, coffee in hand, and laughing about absolutely nothing. So carefree and happy, a trait that isn’t seen in the next semester when they arrive at Gallagher. But these were girls that knew nothing of the future or what it held, just that they had midterms happening soon and stupid boy drama. So lost in thought, neither one noticed the Chihuahua that was running free without an owner or a leash, a doggy convict that broke loose.
It was VG, so sweet, adorable, and ditzy who saw it first. Cooing and bending down to its level, she reached over to try and pet the Chihuahua. Slow and careful, a pro who knew how to handle dogs, too bad that wasn’t a normal dog. It was an escaped convict!!! Growling, the doggy convict saw her hand and bit it. The blonde winced, pulling her hand back quickly. Harper was the one to glare down at him. “Hey now, you little fuck, no one bites my wife--” Just like her best friend, she went down to scare it away, obviously an even bigger idiot that has never had a dog in her life. Because the doggy convict bit her too!! “Ow! Oh, you know what, come here you little shit...”
“Harp, no!” Before the other could literally fight the doggy convict, VG grabbed held of her best friend’s arm, trying to keep her back. “He’s just a dog! He didn’t mean to do it!”
“Yes he did, he bit us on purpose. Look at those demon eyes of his--”
“He doesn’t have demon eyes--”
“Yes, he does--”
“No--”
“Yes--”
“No!”
“Yes!”
The two girls continued to argue as VG held back Harper, Harper who tried to fight the doggy convict, and the Chihuahua laughing at the two idiots inside of its little doggy head. Just a trio of idiots if you asked me.

Harper Mariah Kent’s Summer Adventure - Locked Up with the Grandparents Edition - @gallaghertasks
ft. @gldensvns && @vgdemy
When Harper thought about leaving Gallagher and going back home, she was expecting to sit in her childhood home in Washington. Jasper already made it known that she wasn’t leaving the house, not at all liking how he could’ve lost his only child. Going from one lockdown to another, cool, it was whatever. At least then she would be able to chill and hang out with her dad and uncle. Until their most recent phone call and Jasper said that she would spend the summer with her grandparents in Chicago. Chicago is fun, lots to do and shouldn’t be bad. It was just her grandparents that was the problem. Two very black old souls who definitely wouldn’t let her leave (she was their only grandchild after all), force her to clean everyday, AND make her go to church. You may be thinking, ‘oh, that’s not bad!’ but you’re unaware of the activities that happen at a black church and a life with a black family.
Get up at seven in the morning to get ready for church, help your grandma make food for everyone afterwards, get there at ten in the morning and then get out of service at three in the afternoon. But you don’t go home until almost seven in the evening because your grandparents just have to talk to everyone and you gotta go eat at the pastors house. You’re not allowed to use your phone until after church and even then you’ll have adults peering at you, asking questions about who you’re texting and comments about how people in your generation are always on their phones. Then you have bible study and church on Wednesday at seven in the evening; it just doesn’t end.
And while Harper isn’t a fan of church, it’s not all too bad. Because she’s surrounded by her grandparents, two people who love and adore her. There were just times when the two could be too much, ya’ know? Like yelling at her if she doesn’t clean up, chirping her for being unable to quote something from the bible, or asking if she’s still with Michael (”You should try to get back together with him. He was such a sweet young man and the two of you would’ve had some beautiful babies.” Harper almost threw up her meatloaf at what her grandmother said to her.).
There was the plus side of it all aka having her phone back and talking to her friends. The groupchat was back to being constantly blown up because it was just nice being able to text each other. A daily FaceTime session between Harper and Grace (”Michael texted me that he missed me... I told him to go choke on dirt.”), texting her new Gallagher friends (”Grayson, please just learn this TikTok dance… I don’t care if you’ll look dumb, it’s the Savage dance challenge and you need to do it.”), and even an unexpected text from a certain someone.
I’m in Chicago, want to meet up?
She blinked a few times, not at all expecting for Rafael to text her. The two had exchanged numbers and would sometimes text each other but that was it. So to get this message caught her off guard but hey, someone she knew in Chicago? Of course she was going to take up the offer to meet up.
It took some time to convince her grandparents to let her go but they finally cracked (how could you say no to your favorite grandchild?). It was awkward, her and Rafael hanging out together. Their conversations before always had to do with Grace, you can’t always talk about her (harper vc: you wanna bet?). It was difficult at first, the two trying to find something, anything to say. It was finally when Harper looked at Rafael, phone in hand and the TikTok app open. “Wanna learn a TikTok dance with me?”
It was after the duo trying to learn a few dances and failing that began their friendship and broke away the awkwardness. Pictures were taken, video calls to Grace (”I can’t believe the two of you are hanging out without me! This is rude!”), and just being young. It was during this time that the two realized that if things were different, if they were all normal, that they would’ve been good friends who worked together to protect Grace. That dynamic duo that you wouldn’t want to fuck around with.
But alas, the universe wasn’t too nice to any of them, the previous semester proved that. All they could do was enjoy the present and appreciate what was before them.
Rafael’s visit didn’t last long, only a few days as he went to hang out with Scott (”Tell my light skin half that I said hi, alright.”). After that, Harper was alone in Chicago with her family. A family that loved and missed her. A family that checked up on her whenever it was possible. So, while it sucked that she couldn’t visit her friends, at least she had her family right beside her.
Extra facts:
Jasper found Harper a therapist after she asked for him to get her one. Meeting with the Gallagher therapist actually helped her a lot and from those sessions, she found herself wanting to continue going through with the sessions elsewhere.
Daily FaceTime session with her wife where they talk about any and everything.
Find her still messaging her Gallagher friends because after talking and apologizing to them, she realizes how much she cares about them.
Grayson: she’s still teaching him the ways of megan thee stallion and beyonce, her british friend WILL be cultured
Caden: best believe that she texts him on the regular, sending him tiktoks and stupid memes that reminds her of him (”Look, it looks like you” *sends him a garbage can or something*)
Rafael: after their visit, the two talk about different stuff! mostly about their lowkey tiktok fame that they got from their failed dancing videos
Her free time has gone towards working on creating clothes for Marlowe’s upcoming baby because she’s THAT friend
Emmett hadn’t had the chance to talk to all of the Georgetown students, his main focus and task was keeping an eye on Atty. Because of that, he didn’t give himself the chance to really talk to anyone else. Though, since they all knew the truth and the semester was coming to an end, he decided that now was the best time to hang out with one. Better late than never. And the first person he saw and encountered was Grace. He only knew of her as the girl dating Rafael but that was about it. She was a mystery to him, for now. So, with the wave of his card in her face and a smile on his face, Emmett offered to take her shopping. Because that was the way to a girl’s heart: buying them clothes.
Which explained how the duo were inside one of the shops, both looking for things that would look nice on Grace. “What are you trying to find? Everyday wear or something to wear at night?” He asked her. “And don’t worry about the price, like I said, I got it all covered.” @vgdemy
It had been a few days since they last talked and seen each other, and honestly, it was killing her. If the two of them were ever arguing with each other, it went without saying that they would give each other some space. A day or more, depending on the situation. But no matter what, they would text or call each other, immediately talking through the situation and then hugging it out. That was the good thing about having a phone, she would be able to ask her friend if she was free to talk. But without it, Harper had no way to see if Grace was free or where she was. It made things harder but that wasn’t going to stop her from getting her best friend back. She needed her and the same probably went for the other. So, what did she decide on doing? Simple, sit outside of Grace’s room and wait for her to get back.
The others saw Harper and offered for her to come inside and wait for Grace but she declined. She wanted to see her and apologize as soon as possible. With her black bag sitting next to her, she had one of her notebooks out, a blank page staring up at her, and colored pencils to her right. Just something to pass the time. She had no clue how long she had been sitting there. Anytime someone would walk pass her, she thought it was Grace and would pick her head up, ready to apologize. Only to be disappointed to know that it wasn’t her. As more time went by, Harper began to think that Grace wasn’t going to be coming to her room anytime soon, yet no matter what, she stayed there and waited.
When her friend did show up, it was when Harper had a sketched out an idea for a dress. It wasn’t anything special, too plain for her taste but it was something. The last time she created a design it was months ago so this was progress in her eyes. Seeing someone standing above her, Harper picked up her head, eyes going wide to see her best friend. “Oh, uh, hey,” she stammered, blinking a few times before putting her notebook and colored pencils away. Standing to her feet, she stood up tall and made eye contact with the other. She was so nervous, having to talk to her best friend after so long. This was the first time that she has ever felt like this, fuck. “I’m here because I want to say that... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you cry that day and should’ve stopped bad mouthing Rafael like that. I was in the wrong and I’m so, so sorry.” @vgdemy
“And once again, Gallagher is showing us that they don’t speak broke.” With her arm linked with Grace’s, she used the time to just look around the space, once again amazed by the decorating and effort that went into preparing for the dance. Either go big or go home, huh? “Like, they really went all out with this. And I gotta give them their props on that.” @vgdemy
“It was a frat party during my first year. Some weird guy was messing with her and didn’t pick up that she didn’t want him. So, what did I decide to do? I went over to help out this random girl by pretending to be her friend and pulled her away. I wasn’t expecting for said girl to become my best friend, my partner in crime, the sister that I’ve always wanted. VG is my everything and I’m blessed to have her in my life.”
