hey, i'm jayce/phantom/grimshaw and i'm kinda in a shitty situation?

i have pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and with some symptoms i've been experiencing lately, including constant bleeding for over a month, it's real damn likely i have a burst ovarian cyst.

thing is, i'm trans as hell and i live in a very close-minded area where any local doctors are likely to push things that are costly and very against my attempts to transition.

i'm hoping to be able to go to an inclusive gender/obgyn center and possibly remove the ovaries if not more, but it's on the other side of the state and i'm struggling to get on insurance. i can save up, but chances are this is going to get a lot worse while i do that.

i feel like my online presence isn't as fulfilling as it used to be for people where i'm not creating as much or communicating as much as i once did--but if you're still here, i could really use any and all the help i can get.

Gender Dysphoria and PCOS

I feel like... something that more people should talk about is trans people with PCOS and how gender dysphoria can affect our ability to get help.

For many trans peeps, things like visiting the doctor is incredibly dysphoria triggering. Doctors visits most likely mean hearing your deadname, being misgendered, and being asked questions about your anatomy.

I've gotten lots of messages from trans people who think they might have PCOS/another reproductive system issue, and the main reason they've been holding off on visiting the doctor is the gender dysphoria.

If you're dealing with this, pleaseee take care of yourself. I know gender dysphoria is a bitch, but take care of your health too.

Don't call yourself a good transgender ally if your discussions about PCOS aren't trans inclusive!

@ Trans guys and nb ppl and transmasc ppl who have PCOS..... hang in there my dudes you're not alone. Wether you have cysts or not, wether you talk about your PCOS or not, wether you take birth control or not, wether you plan to have a hysterectomy or not.... you're valid. And I support you !!

Its not just a heterosexual couple trying to get pregnant.

Its not just a white woman on a fancy low-carb diet.

Its not just cisgender women distressing over facial hair.

All kinds of people have PCOS. Not everyone has the same experience.

I avoid gendered language on this account

On this account, I try to never use gendered language to describe PCOS and the people who have it. If I accidentally do use language that is gendered, please let me know so I can correct myself. As a trans person with PCOS, I want this account to be a space where other trans people with PCOS can feel as comfortable as possible. If you are a cis person with PCOS, you can continue to use gendered language in your PCOS posts if you want, that's totally up to you. Just know that you are probably unintentionally pushing away trans people with PCOS. I know that personally, the accounts where I feel most seen and welcome at are ones that use gender neutral language.
