I have been reading some trans mlm romantasy lately, and I have noticed this trend of the ftm mc being portrayed as this shy, inexperienced, submissive little guy compared to his cis bf. It’s giving me kind of an icky vibe, since I’ve been seeing it so often. It’s giving gender essentialism in a trench coat. I’m aware that a lot of this is probably due to genre conventions, but can we not do better?? Maybe I’m just reading the wrong books?
Has anyone else read "There's Someone Inside Your House' by Stephanie Perkins? Because I just did and oh my FUCK Darby is my life and love and I need to gush about him with someone
