so s4 have been on my mind all week I miss dual and Jakey. I swear I need to draw them more. i lowkey get so sad when I think of dual till this day. also Oliver art i made a long time ago but like look at him.

ALSO guy yall have to go check out @becca4leafclover she gave us more info about the would have been Jakey spin-off. Go read the everything start to finish you will not regret it. plus we got to see all the characters designs in 4k. yall have no idea how much I want to see Sera design and even more winter. I definitely plan on drawing some fanart of them because design are FWEHOIOE I LOVE THEM. as a long time jakey fan who recently stop feeling shameful that he's my favorite i'm so happy. but really go read the og post it's amazing and I'm so glad she wrote so much.

“Is it on?”

“… uhm. Yes”

Jakey couldn’t help but shift awkwardly under the stare of the man sitting across from her

They had recorded a few statements about him. Jakey had listened to them all.

Lucas had spoken in great lengths about him. The last thing anyone expected was for him to come in to make a statement.

The tattoos were mostly covered. Jakey could only spot them on his exposed forearms.

But there was still something deeply unsettling about his eyes. Something hollow about them.

Jakey tried to focus on what he was saying instead. 

“Then say your words.”

Somehow, he knew what he was meant to say

“Statement of Mario Aranea regarding .. regarding his service to the entity known as ….. the Web”

“Amongst other things.”

“.. statement recorded direct from subject. Statement begins.”

He swallowed, and looked up at the man.

His arms were folded against each other, in a way that made the spiderweb tattoos on each of them somehow seem tangled together

He looked at Jakey, and it felt like there was absolutely nothing behind that gaze.

Then he smiled, and started talking.

“Calling it an entity is so misleading. Makes it sound alive.

But that’s something you’ll come to understand soon.

Have you ever been buried alive?

Oh i know, its odd to start a statement about the Web, as you call it, by talking about a complete different force. But it is where my story starts.

I was.

Buried alive, that is.

When i was 5 years old. 

The circumstances that led up to that point don’t truly matter. What matters is i was stuck, under rocks rubble and dirt.

And in the time it took for me to be dug out, not only was I marked

But I was also left paralyzed from the waist down.

You’ve never broken a bone, have you? I cant imagine you’d be able to picture what it’s like to completely lose all use of your legs.

On top of that... I had been orphaned. I did not have any extended family either. I was left properly and truly alone.

Hilarious how close i came to being something else, is it not? First Buried, then Alone. Though the Emptiness never left any sort of mark on me.

But its fitting.

And I was never truly at risk of anything from them, as I did not fear them. Not like I feared that spider and what I knew it meant.

I was put in this. Care home, of sorts? For injured children. Because there was nowhere else to put me.

But you see, the others in the home, well, they were working on recovery. They had people visiting them, the doctors helped them.

Me?

I got a couple nurses who would came to check on me in shifts, maybe once a day if I was lucky.

An empty room…

And a spider.

I’m not sure when she made her home in my room. But as the nurse forgot to check on me, more and more often, I found myself spending a lot of time alone with the spider.

It wasn’t a normal spider. Normal spiders could not invoke the absolute terror that I felt.

Was it me? I’m… honestly not sure.

It was Mario, that I know. But i’ll never know if that’s truly who I am.

Mario was a child, and he feared the spider, because the spider was more than a spider. She was a representation of how he had no control in his life. No one does, not really. 

But he was staring at concrete proof of it, as the spider began spinning her web in his room, and he could do nothing to stop it. No one even came to help.

He feared that her web would spread and take over him. And no one would even notice…

So of course, that is exactly what happened.

There was no decision.

None of us actually have any choice in the end. Even if you think you do.

At the end of the day, even when you are scared, you’re going to choose to survive.

she covered more and more of the room in her web.

Before eventually, she began covering me.

It’s hilarious how people are so quick to assume these are tattoos. I suppose its the only thing that makes sense to you all.

When i was younger, people called them scars or very very odd birthmarks. But no.

They are not scars, I was not born with them, and they are not tattoos

Though, I suppose they could be in a certain sense of the word, in the sense they were pricked into my skin by a needle.

Or was I put into his skin? I do not know if I am Mario, or if I am just the spider’s web. Where does Mario end, and where does the Web begin?

…

You’re scared. I’m sorry, but you have to understand, I’m not very good at being human.

I’m less.. connected to humanity than the others. Because I am not quite like them.

I was a child when I Became. I did not get to be human for long, I did not have a long time to be human, so I am not human anymore, because i have been this longer than i was ever human, if I was Mario, i mean.

You know, maybe..

Maybe you’ll understand someday.

Anyway. The web.

It took a while

And i will not lie. It hurt.

It was extremely painful. To have something sewn into my very skin was agony. Or was it the act of being sewn into a living body coursing with fear?

But it was worth it. If only to see the face on those lazy nurses faces when i walked out of my room.

I was able to sue the hell out of that place, with a lawyer specializing in child defense, few pictures of the state of my room, and the proof that my legs had recovered completely alone. 

I think the courts determined that some of the nurses had been drugging me to keep me paralyzed? Something like that. And..  when they stopped feeding me, it wore off.

The nurses in charge of my care lost absolutely everything. They were branded as negligent at best, and downright abusive at worst. Lost their job, one lost all their friends, A few of them ended up finding me later, and hanging themselves in front of me.

That’s funny, right?

Heh. No. I suppose you wouldn’t get it yet.

Now I have spun my own  web , trapping even more flies every day.

So, that’s how it started. 

People call it so many things

The Web. The spider

I’ve never really called it anything. There’s never been a need. It simply expresses its will through me.

I do not know if I became the web, or if I became Mario. It does not make a difference.

So

Does that answer your questions, oh Archive?”

Mario stood up before Jakey could process what he was saying

“I’ll be seeing you around. Eventually.”

Seeing the Origins Confessions going crazy on twt is making me want to write an essay about Jakey's FTO series andnwhy everyone sleeps on his POVs. Yesh he's the silly childish cookie time mage but thats not his whole story like everyone thinks!

Do you know about how in S4 he was battling an Evil Future version of himself who wanted to crush present Jakey's hopes and dreams and turn him into the future self? And that in defeating Evil Future Jakey means he had to DOOM A VERSION OF HIMSELF TO FADING OUT OF EXISTENCE? Not just dying but a potentially worse fate!! And he's the only one who really knew!

Do you know that in S5 Jakey realizes he cannot remember past arriving in Atlantide? None of his childhood? Not his family? And his sister finds him only to also have most of her memory missing and they realize something is wrong? And his fiance leaves him at the alter after leading Jakey on for months? And his new friend decides to go worldhopping over his friendship/could-be-more with Jakey? And his old best friend leaves for a new guild after a fight with Jakey? And so he throws everything into finding his lost family and discovers there's an evil who wants HIS magic specifically who's kidnapped and tortured his parents? And in the final battle Jakey gives up his innocence as he's forcibly aged up (from like 18 to mid 20s iirc) but his entire psyche and personality changes? And he doesnt recognize himself and he saves his mom but loses his father and sister to the evil instead? And his mom has lost her magic? And when he returns home his mentor too abandons him and makes him the GUILDMASTER of the Protector's? BUT THERES NO ONE LEFT IN THE PROTECTOR'S! Jakey, the laughing stock of the Atlantide mages, seen as nothing more than an overgrown child, has lost EVERYONE. All his friends, support system, his found family. In the time he needed them most they told him to grow up. And when he literally DID they werent even there to see it. And Jakey was left with two broken homes.

CAN YOU TELL I LOVE TIME BOY JAKEY AND THE FACT THAT EVERYONE'S JUST SEES HIM AS UWU COOKIE BOY IS CRAZY!! HIS S5 HAS SO MUCH ANGST WRITTEN IN AND NO ONE WATCHED IT TO KNOW
