“It doesn't make any sense, right? Like. I’ve been going over it dozens of times and it just. There wasn’t. Nothing happened, it was just, gone. Everything was gone.”

“And it hurt! Which. Which makes sense. If it happened. But it couldn’t have happened. I think… but… i don’t think it should have hurt that much. And…I don't think anything really came fully back? Or maybe I didn't come back. Are you real?”
“Miss, sorry, could we. Backtrack a bit. Start at the beginning.”
“Oh! Right, uhm.”
“Statement of Kayla Lockwood, regarding.. getting lost in an abandoned building?”
“I didn’t get lost! Everything else vanished.”
“…. Right. Statement recorded directly from subject, overlooked by Archival Assistant Kit Phoenix. Statement begins.”
“…. I’ve been here before, you know? I. Came in before, after a few of our outings, made statements, but you've never taken me seriously before. Might have spoken to you…. I cant tell.”
“I’m… sorry?”
“… whatever. So. Me and my friend, Inmo, we … We do ghost hunting stuff. Something I thought this place would respect. But whatever. You’re stuck up assholes… I’m getting off track, whatever.
The gist of it is, we go into abandoned buildings, get readings on ghosts, try to help them sometimes. Film it. We’ve got a few thousand subscribers, and we find a bunch of real stuff!
… I. I got this tip off about a building recently. Some ancient building. A big old law building, with some massive drama on how it got shut down. Huge massacre, supposedly?
You might have heard of it, actually? Its from a hundred years ago, but, it’s often credited to be supernatural, seems like the kinda thing your institute might have researched.
That or its called a mass suicide.
There was a body in each room of the place, and they’re all brutally dead, seemingly at their own hands!”
“Sorry, Miss Lockwood, do you have the address?”
“Uh, yeah, i uh. I wrote it down in the paper you made me sign.
Anyway, I was actually kinda surprised I hadn’t thought to visit it before, and that no one else in the supernatural community had thought to go there?
It was weird!
Because, the supernatural community, we obviously love supernatural stuff, we love mysteries! It's literally our whole thing!
And like 30 dead bodies, all in locked rooms, killing themself in the most brutal way possible?!
When me and Inmo heard about it, we were sure it was crawling with ghosts!
So, we started planning the video.
The theme of the video would kinda depend on the ghost’s mood, but if none showed themselves too obviously, we decided to try and look into what could have actually caused the deaths, and at the very least, make some exposition about the victims.
So we did a lot of research before going in!
And, we found a lot!
Like, half of the victims had lost loved ones, either a parent, a partner, or a pet!
Which kinda lends to the suicide theory!
But, when we actually got inside, it was. Weird.
All our tech started bugging out. Which is usually a good sign of ghostly presences!
But. It bugged out in a weird way.
We could still recorded and the footage was fine…
But.. we couldn’t contact anyone. It was like we hit a total dead zone.
Like.. we were cut off from the world.
We didn’t notice for a while, obviously. We were focused on filming.
There. Wasn’t much to film at first, honestly.
We decided to go for an ominous but tragic vibe, and we were just. Getting some footage, when.
…
uhm…
….
I…I want to say I heard something that made me wander off? But I.. can’t remember what it was? It might have been singing? Or… maybe a scream? A sob?
… anyway, i. I walked into another room.
I.. noticed there was a mirror, covered by some dusty fabric. so I decided to take a look. Sometimes, you can see ghosts in mirrors! I made a statement about that before
So i.. I wandered over to the mirror, and removed the sheet…
And there was.. nothing.
I couldn’t… I couldn't see myself. The mirror reflected a completely empty room…. I probably spent ten minutes just staring at it. No matter what way I turned the mirror I just.. wasn’t there.
I had.. a lot of thoughts about what could have happened. What could have caused this.
.. things got.. really weird when I started trying to record it…
My.. my phone wouldn’t turn on. Or well. I could turn it on, but i.. i have it set up so it needs either my Face ID or my fingerprint to open, and it didnt… it wouldn’t work? It wasn’t that it wasn’t recognizing me, but I…
It was like I wasn’t even there?
I… that’s what started scaring me, really.
I couldn’t open my phone. The mirror couldn’t see me, and
.. when I left the room, I.. couldn’t find the stairs. I couldn’t find… anything. All the other doors were gone, and I was.. stuck, in a long, long hallway.
There. There were no windows, no clocks, nothing.
Just a long hall.
I.. I started walking. Figuring eventually I have to reach somewhere, you know?
as i was walking, I.. noticed something. There were paintings on the wall, and earlier before I got stuck in that.. place. I’d taken some pictures of them, thinking they looked, vintage and creepy, ya know?
But… now the people in the paintings, none of them… none of them had faces. Just. Blobs of nothingness over where their faces should be.
… i.. I swear to you, I Swear, I walked in a complete straight line, I didn’t turn at any point. So it is... Completely impossible that I reached the door to the room with the mirror.
I.. I think it was the same room. The mirror was tilted the exact way I’d turned it.
I started running after that. I thought.. maybe i was in some kinda loop, and.. maybe i could outrun it, you know?
I just.
Ran and ran and ran. But i didnt get anywhere.
I think I was screaming by that point… maybe i was calling for help? I.. can’t remember.
I kept running until every bone in my body ached, and I could barely breathe.
And even after that, I kept running, until I physically collapsed… I started crawling then.
I.. I didn't want to die there. I didn’t want to die alone. I just started thinking of how I didn't want to be alone, and… of everyone that I wanted to see again, but I.. I couldn't remember what they looked like! I couldn’t remember what any of them looked like. And at that point I just. Curled into a ball and started sobbing.
… I.. eventually dragged myself back into the room. And i just.
Stared at the mirror. I still couldn’t see myself…
I want to be clear. I wasn’t trying to … hurt myself.
But I thought.. I thought, maybe, somehow, I'd gotten stuck in the mirror. And. Maybe if I broke it…
….
Inmo said he found me collapsed on the ground in front of the mirror.
It wasn't damaged, but I was badly cut. I had glass in my face. Inmo says you can barely see the scars, that the doctors did a great job.

At least I. I think it’s Inmo. I think that’s what Inmo sounds like.
I… still can't see his face.

“… I don't know. I think I'm gonna take a break from ghost hunting. Maybe adopt a pet. I’m.. thanks for listening this time.”
“Yeah, uhm of course. Do you want me to walk you out?”
“That was.. concerning. I have actually seen miss Lockwood before, quite a few times, but her previous statements were… quite frankly, ridiculous, and were all immediately filed as discredited
The. The thing that concerns me is the previous times she’s come, she’… she would greet me. Recognize me. She even learned my name, and Jakey’s. In fact, I think she and him were starting to build up quite a friendship.
But today she just… Walked right by everyone. It didn’t even feel like her eyes focused at all this entire time.
I’m… gonna ask Miss P to see if we can help her in anyway…
Toffie wants to ramble about little headcanons for the FTO rewrite/au. Part eight of my FTO Rewrite.
Although pt. 1 of headcanons
Some of the stuff I would have mentioned briefly in some of my other posts. I'll kinda sort them, or at least try to.
Ok so some stuff is based in canon but I just want it to be stated for the record.
Worship:
• Worship isn't as common in the modern day as it was during the times of seasons 2/3
° Most worshippers nowadays are descendants of other worshipers and or the descendants of priests
• It's not uncommon for people to worship different Gods based on their profession
° These people won't likely be going to temples for these gods since still active temples are few and far between
Dragon slayers of the Original Grimshade:
• Ok so dragon slayers, I've mentioned them before, but I will mainly be focusing on the first ones to be made.
• Allumos created the magic, that's still true here
° But the magic doesn't function the same between the dragon slayers that Allumos made vs. the ones in modern day Earthland
• In a sense they are kind of a first pass for the magic
° Not the prototype cause that's what I call the dragon magic users in FTO season 3
• The original dragon slayers would have more draconic features show through
• The original Lachrimas were made with blank dragon magic, and runes that would grab onto the hosts magic in order for the host the not have to worry about learning a new magic and their systems wouldn't be overloaded with too much foreign magic
° Allumos believed the reason the first few hosts for the testing Lachrimas didn't accept the magic is that it was too different from their own and caused a shock to their system
° Also the Lachrimas having attached to the host and using their magic to complete itself means that the hosts souls get stuck in the Lachrimas, unless the lachrima is removed before their death
• Aoi (Nix's Replacement) worked with them in helping to make the Lachrimas
° In turn the there are some feature that you would find on devil slayers, like pointed ears and black markings
• Each dragon slayer had unique black markings.
• Their original base was made by Allumos using Sagittarius to carve out the tunnels under Atlantide
° That is why there are so many tunnels under the city
• Each of the members had their own pseudonym, they made to mainly raise their spirits
• Like Allumos their dragon slayer forms, would have more draconic features, and their versions of dragon king mode was literally just a dragon
° Extremely difficult to enter King mode
• They would make armor and weapons out of the scales and bones of dragons they killed
• I'll talk more about each of the original members that I made later
Allumos:
• I guess I should probably do ethnicity, so Nordic based, it's a bit more complicated since real world countries don't exist here
• Star pupils
• I give her new body post season 5 time
° Figures out she's trans around then
• I think in her original body she was on the shorter side, and was malnurished
° Not Albino in my rewrite, I make her tan
° Magenta eyes, platinum blonde.
• Was a teenager during the time of the dragon war
° War started when she was about 15
• Horrible at taking care of herself, surprisingly better while in Pat's body but still not good
Viper:
• Is it a surprise that I make him Puerto Rican, I base it off the VA being Puerto Rican
• His Lachrima belonged to one of the original dragon slayers that Allumos created
° :)
• I want him to be a feathery dragon
• He was born with Ice magic from his mom's side
° He runs cold, and the cold doesn't bother him as much as it does a normal person
° Doesn't have as great of resistance as a regular ice mage
• Has had some training as a blacksmith
° I made his family known for making enchanted weapons/armor they use runes to do so
Devin & Michael:
• As children the two look nearly identical
° This caused the old guild master of Grimshade to color code them
• The red and purple streaks are dyed
° Devin physically dyed it and Michael's magic dyed his
• They're Dhampyr
° It causes them to have their red eyes, a white streak in their hair, pointed canines, and slightly pointed ears
° Also the need to drink some blood to stay healthy
° They can go without blood but it's like they're not having vital nutrients
• It's basically canon that they are descendants of season 2/3 Michael
Devin:
° Heavily implied by the VAs
• I'd imagine that they'd be of Asian descent at least, not sure about specifics tho
• Was willing to drink blood, and during the 8 years being controlled by Eden definitely didn't feel grossed out by it.
° Definitely committed a Cannabalism
• I want Devin to have a slightly softer body type since he eats sweets a lot, and his magic doesn't require him to move around a lot
° He has muscles but they are more for dexterity and speed (was a mercenary)
Michael:
• Less willing to drink blood, substitutes with bloodier steak on occasion
° Because of this it makes him a little malnourished
• Malnourished, due to missing nutrients and also is shown not to take care of himself when people he cares about are missing
° Him being so short is part of this
• His shadow magic makes him paler
° The lack of sleep doesn't help either
• I think he has muscles but they are more lithe like how I mention Devin's more built for dexterity and speed
° I think he is more muscular than Devin tho, the big ass scythe kinda requires it
• When he doesn't take care of himself he is quite boney
° The paleness, sunken in cheeks, eye bags, and how he can shadow travel makes people genuinely believe that he is a ghost.
• His magic and also lack of self care was actively killing him
Kay:
• Parents thought she was a changeling because of her magic
• Took on some Fox like features from her adoptive fox family
° Although her only staying for 18 years makes it seem more like foatering
° Pointed ears, sharper teeth, slit pupils, black fade from her nails to the secondary joints of her fingers, and a fox tail
• I think that her Fox family were Fox spirits, they were too sentient
° I get suspension of disbelief but the foxes read a flyer
• She wants to look human so she hides the fox-like features that she has
• Uses magic to preserve her baked goods
° I don't like thinking that all of the food goes to waste
• Attracted to 'Bad boys' that are nice to her
Mario/Mars:
• Understanding my headcanons about this one requires looking at my post about Dragons
• Doesn't understand human concepts of gender
° Knows that sex does not equal gender, but doesn't understand why the concepts are still linked together
° What is Mars' gender, they don't even know
° Divinus uses he/him and Mars' doesn't care what they're called
° Dragon gender is One who Fights/One who Defends
• Leaf used Dragonqueer as the descriptor of Blake's gender for it's au/FTO rewrite, I'm stealing it for Mars now too
• Skipping stones
° No I will not explain
• During season 4 crashes on David's couch a lot
• Has a cavern den under Divinus Magia's Island
° Puts things that they hoard in there, lots of plants
• Stayed in David's house while they were stuck in the book
° Slowly started moving everyone's things off the island after a while
• Can lift people up easily
° For some reason this isn't really blocked by anti magic items
• Before Ech got their name, Mars called them Sprout
° Now it's a nickname
That's all the HCs I feel like talking about for now
1: Jakey rewinding the time every time some died was clearly messing with the time line, and I get that he was heavily stressed about it but you should know the consequences to your actions.
2: Kay being blamed by Jakey for causing Bryan to leave the guild was out of the question. Jakey and the other protectors were also adding up to Bryan decision to leave the guild.
3: BRYAN ALMOST DIED FROM HONEY, AND WHEN JAKEY REWINDED THE TIME THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS NOTHING?? I wished he would’ve been affected by the rewinds, getting a lot of Déja vus. I feel like he would’ve had a panic attack after the final rewind, like he almost, no, was literally dying as he was drowning too? Knowing his case of depression and his mental health being decline heavily should’ve been seen in the wedding eps.
4: I’m not trying to bash on Jakey, but he should’ve known that he wouldn’t be able to convince Bryan to stay in the guild. Jakey, Bryan just said he’s tired of the cookies and singing, he had to move on.
5: lo’pho, you weren’t a good father, shouldn’t been surprised to see rosey, your daughter, agreeing to go with Bryan.
6: Kay giving Bryan tissues in the bridal shower because HE LOST THE S TRIALS?? Omfg, I know Nix was causing her acting like this But WHY.??
Around the time him and Kay got married he joined the protectors since he was already around a lot anyways helping them out. He was more than happy to no longer have to deal with council meetings and paperwork and everything else that came with being grimshades second though he still helps Kay out whenever she needs it. Allumos was a little upset about losing him but was proud to see him happy.
