Eddie and Buck were in the kitchen, doing their normal after dinner routine. Eddie refuses to let Buck do the dishes after he’s just cook a whole meal for him and his son, and Buck refuses to sit back while Eddie cleans. So as Eddie washed the dishes, Buck dries them and puts them away. Each working perfectly in sync, expertly attuned to one another, to their partner’s needs. And man, don’t each of them wish that that word means more than it does.
“Bucky! Can you come help me with my assignment?” With out a word, but with two blinding smiles, Buck puts away the dish in his hand, knocks shoulders with Eddie and leaves the room.
As Buck heads into the living room Eddie can’t control the find smile that stays on his face, he can hear his partner’s foot steps slowly fading in the direction of his son. He can hear his smooth voice questioning Christopher on what home work he’s doing and he can hear Christopher’s voice, in that hushed tone which means that his son is roping Buck in on one of his schemes and trying to keep it a secret from Eddie.
And right here, right now, Eddie has never been more content and happy this this is his life.
