i should take this moment to clarify: if you haven’t played ff8 and are worrying about being lost in future ftpverse chapters---DON’T BE

the same way you can understand every other final fantasy character’s existence in kh without playing their respective games, you won’t have any problem here with rinoa either!!

also like. even though i reference events that happened “during ff8″ a) the fact that i basically rewrote the entirety of ff8 within ftpverse canon (even if it doesn’t exist in its entirety on the internet yet) has been a thing for Years Now b) i legit added in details that weren’t initially in ff8 to begin with and those are the things i’ll be referring to most

and in case you didn’t understand that last paragraph bc i was vague or confusing: all “ff8″ events i’ll reference in future ftpverse chapters are definitely 100% my own fabrications. you’ll be fine

(as a side note though ff8 is the easiest final fantasy imo* because with the ability to cast summons ad infinitum random encounters become a joke)

also fun tidbit: rinoa can package spells into one of her feathers, becuaes Why Not. teleportation spells are most useful ofc, tho it occurred to me the spell activating the moment you’re holding the feather would be HELLA inconvenient (with teleportation, anyway) so i figured the spell should probably have some kind of trigger word

i was like “what would rinoa even make the trigger word for her spells, though?”

then it occurred to me

a list of all the times in ftpverse that rinoa has tried to do sorceress training but then has gotten distracted and/or pulled into helping her friends w/ a Really Serious Thing

she’s supposed to start immediately after ff8 concludes (2005), but due to Coping with things ((like, getting possessed)) she puts it off for a few months, which, IS FAIR....!

rinoa tries to start sorceress training, but then aerith and leon’s mom passes away (06). she drops by a lot to help them with coping ((and also not forgetting to do things like buy groceries))

A YEAR LATER, ZACK DIES, AND RINOA DROPS SORCERESS TRAINING again (07) to help out aerith and leon,,,, cope,,,, ((she also has to grieve herself, because in ftpverse zack and aerith helped out w/ ff8))

while she doesn’t drop sorceress training, she does take a lot of unscheduled and unauthorized breaks to visit the gang in traverse town, thus making training kind of ineffective (08-09)

SHE PROBABLY ENDS UP HELPING TIFA TRACK DOWN CLOUD / POTENTIALLY HELPS DEFEAT SEPHIROTH (09/10) WHICH MEANS, GUESS WHAT, SHE’S NOT DOING SORCERESS TRAINING ((she definitely helps tifa track cloud down one time, whether or not she helps w/ sephiroth is up for debate bUT SHE COULD, SERIOUSLy))

in 2010 she finally tries to take it seriously...... she has a lot to catch up on seeing as she basically hasn’t been honing in on her powers for the past five years.....

while she’s come leaps and bounds by, like, atr (2012), and is almost done, thINGS WILL HAPPEN, IN LATER ATR, AND GUESS WHAT??? she has to drop her sorceress training to help out. at least this is only i need a month off tops thing and not UM I NEED TIME OFF INDEFINITELY BECAUSE LOL I’LL TRY AND DROP BY WHEN I CAN
