Okay! Time for #honestreviews! 😊 My film number 2 for this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival is Eduardo Roy Jr.’s FUCCBOIS!
I. Totally. Love. It.
It was amazing in all the right parts and the message of the film isn’t a given. It could be compared to a pouring of a bottle with liquid and hard components. (sorry for being scientific but yeah) So the liquid goes out first — what is obvious. The movie started with establishing the setting and that these guys are young and gullible and confused. It somehow feels like a coming-of-age film — story told in a very creative manner. Anyway, back to the bottle... Well, towards the end of the film, the hard content went out one by one. Each one is precisely highlighted by this brilliant director. You won’t know how many hard contents are in there, so you begin to consume the contents and you get addicted. Then when you start to ask for more... the bottle goes empty. The end. Haha! Yup, it sucks right? But it was worth it, I’m telling you. Just when you thought that it’s just a sexy film or maybe a gay film, I’m telling you it’s not your ordinary gay film. Fun fact: It’s inspired by true events. See for yourself!
