they really took any functionality this website had and stabbed it 23 times, shot it, drowned it, spat on it and then shot it again for safety.
@staff @tumblr @changes NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS. WE DO NOT WANT THIS.

what if instead of that update they make it so when an user youre following rbs something from someone you have BLOCKED so their POSTS DONT SHOW UP the rb DOESNT FUCKING SHOW UP
tumblr rolled a fucking nat 1 with this new update. what the hell
Once again hating on the new tumblr update you know how it is IM SO FUCKING MAAAAAAD OH MY GOOOOOOOD FOR FUCKS SAKE STOP MAKING THIS PLACE ANOTHER TWITTER IM SO DONE.
I don't have the mental energy to rant about it right now but ohhhhhh man. do they know how much of the uniqueness of tumblr this takes away? This literally eliminates reblog chains. You won't get to look through reblogs to see tags people left anymore because it'll only show those who reblogged directly from you and not reblogs from those who reblogged from someone else. Do they know how much that cuts off? How much of the community is built on the nature of reblogs? It's bad, it's so bad what they're doing. It's as if they've never heard the phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it". There was nothing wrong with the system in place but they just HAAAAD to mess it up like they did with breaking up the notes and shit before.
I could go on but I'm not in the right headspace for this. I'll reblog the staff post explaining what they did after I post this.
I can’t believe this stupid update was just so tumblr could try and get the twitter thing where you can “ratio” people by getting more likes/notes on a response.
I have said this before but I am going to get more in depth here.
This update is bad.
Based on what I have seen and how people who have tested it out are saying, this is bad.
I am coming here from the small artist perspective (not on this blog, this is my dump blog). My posts barely get attention as is, but based on this, if someone reblogs my art and makes comments about my art, I will LOSE OUT on engagement that person's reblog gets. That is engagement about MY ART I will not be able to access.
But what is worse is that if people know this, they might be afraid to reblog posts or state comments on art. I want people to discuss my art and I don't want people to be afraid to take away my ability to see engagement with mg art by expressing their appreciation.
Tumblr is a collaborative experience. That is the beauty of it. Humor comes from long reblog chains where people can always see every reblog and each path the chain took. Noone in the chain is competing for engagement because they are all working together to make something better than a whole. This update ruins that aspect of Tumblr that brought me here in the first place.
honestly this update will probably completely ruin my enjoyment of tumblr and make me not want to be on this platform anymore
Accidentally clicked on the Tumblr Mart tab, seventeen dead, thirty injured.
