We fuck up sometimes!
Sometimes it’s important to remember that it’s unrealistic to expect us to be perfect, always. None of us are going to be 100% correct on everything we come across. The mods themselves will always have growing and learning to do. We may also forget things and need to be reminded of something.
It’s important to us that our followers feel free enough to tell us that we’ve fucked up without worrying that we will have pitchforks and torches shoved in our faces. If you don’t feel comfortable saying it directly to the mod who you think has fucked up, just write an ask directing it specifically to another mod’s attention, or like “Hey, Mod Oka posted this, but it’s not correct. Could a different mod address this?”
I also want to clarify that this isn’t meant to include instances where we say something bigoted. While it would be appreciated if you came to us about something like that calmly, you are absolutely allowed to be angry with us if we say something oppressive.
Sometimes you want it to hail, but get snow.
Sometimes you don’t get what you deserve and it’s all the better because you didn’t and sometimes that isn’t always— sometimes you can’t count your blessings because blessings are fuck-ups too and sometimes all you can do is hold on to the fuck-ups that help for longer than you hold the fuck-ups that don’t and sometimes if it’s all fucked, then nothing is stone-set and maybe you can be more than the mistakes you imagine you’ve done or have had done to you and if you can be more then maybe everything can be more and maybe we shouldn’t speak in absolutes, maybe nothing is, but is for now and for now isn’t forever and maybe when it feels like forever we just need to remember it isn’t.
Things are, for now. And we can change that. And it’s okay if we fuck up about it because at least we’re trying. And that’s all there is, the trying of it all, because without the trying, there’s no doing— so here’s to the trying and the doing that follows. Here’s to the fuck-ups that come, and may we take the good ones with the bad, and may the good ones stay long and the bad ones stay short.
Here’s to the experience; may we leave it better than it found us.
FUCK-UPS.
Pandemic Accomplishments: Week 18
Pandemic Accomplishments: Week 18. I gained momentum on the writing front, mostly with these blogs, and plan to re-work Baller and Wave That Flag next week. Part three of The Cx Trilogy, Mina, awaits.
I can now walk on my two new knees. There’s a long way to go, but rehab is in full swing and I’ve been able to get up the two flights of stairs to the roof.
I read John Elder Robinson’s Look Me in the Eye, an autobiography of someone living with Asperger’s Syndrome when there was such diagnosis. I knew I was some kind of misfit, but it was becoming apparent that some of the grown-ups who…
