My friend 3D-printed a Sundowner figure & he's currently painting it 4 me...
I have this “problem”….
Where any time I see a sword-
That can be split down the middle-
My brain will immediately think of a way to use them like scissors-
….Perhaps I like Sundowner too much.
Every Record I Own - Day 427: Fucking Invincible It’ll Get Worse Before It Gets Better
Fucking Invincible are (were?) a hardcore band from Providence, Rhode Island. They reminded me a lot of fellow Divine City ragers Dropdead, but with a greater emphasis on nihilism and misanthropy. Though the band features a bunch of ex-members of various New England hardcore acts, the most notable name in the bunch is Alexis S.F. Marshall---the self-flagellating singer of Daughters.
It’s strange that Alexis would’ve gone from the inflammatory art-minded noise rock of Daughters to the relatively straight-forward barrages of Fucking Invincible, both because only a few years prior he’d been very vocal about rejecting the harsh screams of the bands from his youth in favor of a drunken oratorial approach and because he’d also spoken at length in interviews about trying to continue to push his music forward into new territories. Daughters were determined to sound like no one else, whereas Fucking Invincible sounds perfectly content to continue the lineage of hardcore.
But I talked with Alexis about Fucking Invincible while I was working on my now-abandoned book on Daughters and his rationale behind the project made total sense. Daughters were a creatively ambitious band, and those lofty goals contributed to the ever-present tension within their ranks. Everything needed to be a reinvention, and that created a lot of pressure. It was a band of strong personalities and strong opinions, and when everything worked the way it should that formula made for some truly awe-inspiring music. But when it didn’t work, it yielded nothing but conflict. Consequently, Daughters dissolved in 2009 with a lot of bad vibes. Alexis was sobering up and trying to settle into home life, and rather than completely ditch music, he collaborated with friends on a project that was the antithesis of Daughters. They weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel. They weren’t even trying to be a real band. They were merely making the most primitive distillation of the music that had brought them together in the first place---primitive, low-brow, lo-fi hardcore. It was desperate music made with no goal other than enjoying each other’s company and letting off some steam. And they totally ripped.
Ambitious ideas can yield great things, but sometimes just doing whatever comes naturally with no motivations or aspirations other than personal satisfaction can yield great things too. I picked up this LP back in August 2015 when SUMAC played with Fucking Invincible at Machines With Magnets in Providence on our first East Coast tour.
Okay so one thing

Chairs have been put up because it gets bendy and they can escape, but...

@koolio312 I found a tf2 one :) Although I’m sure this applies to any game really
Kirkman you piss me off. The reboot arc should’ve been longer or it’s own thing.
