Solar Strike Freedom

Amazing/Strike Freedom variant that utilizes large Plavsky bits for its method of attack/etc.

I was in the mood to try and sculpt stuff for this kit via Polystyrene sheets and Tamyia putty; edges on backpack, pointed tips on feet, upper edges on shoulders, and extensions on the knees are what I wound up making in this way. This was also meant to be a sort of counterpart to my Vortex Gundam.

You know how beam sabers in Gundam are just glorified lightsabers?

And you know how Seed introduced the idea of beam shields?

Why does nobody ever use a beam shield as a makeshift sword? It’s still a beam weapon, at the end of the day….

Prototype Strike Freedom?

Not sure where I was going with this one; just thought it was kinda’ neat how the torso of the GBN Guard has some similarities to what a Strike Freedom has. Also I thought it would be kinda’ jarring if it was effectively an inner frame(of sorts) to a non-IBO suit.

Have I ever told you that it fascinates me when a kit has multiple variants? And I don’t mean just a recolor alone, I mean having it’s own distinct parts.

Because it’ll reach a point where you could essentially build your own version of it without cutting, gluing, or doing a lot of repainting. Above one has a repainted fin, and that’s about it.

Gets even more interesting if you can even incorporate bits from a kit that was printed in entirely different colors(Love Phantom for example), because visually it’ll really shake things up.

So maybe at times, I just think it’s a fun idea to customize a kit using what is essentially just stock parts and seeing what you can come up with.
