i apologize in my advance for how mad and upset i am; and the fact i swear a few times. justified rage.
SO WTF DO YOU MEAN SONY CANCELLED A BEAUTIFUL FILM ABOUT CHRONIC ILLNESS, LEARNING TO ACCEPT AND LOVE ONESELF DESPITE UNEXPECTED UNCHANGEABLE CIRCUMSTANCES, AND DIVING INTO THAI MYTHOLOGY AND FOLKLORE?? MADE BY MATT BRALY AND WITH A SCRIPT CO-WRITTEN WITH REBECCA SUGAR?
boycotting Sony i am SO MAD ACTUALLY.
it was judged as 'not commercial enough'
BY THE SAME STUDIO THAT HANDED K-POP DEMON HUNTERS OFF TO NETFLIX BECAUSE THEY DIDNT THINK IT WOULD DO WELL??
the film would have followed a teen boy travelling to the world of Thai spirits in order to cure himself before undergoing a very scary and life-altering operation necessary to live.
he said it wouldn't have been a story about finding a cure, but learning to accept one's unchangeable circumstances with grace and realizing a different life than expected can still be a wonderful one.
not only that, it was also a deeply personal story for Matt Braly with his own experiences with chronic illness.
this would have been an incredible film. im tearing up im so sad and mad :( it would have been incredible to see more Thai-culture on the big screen- as he said, i hope someone else picks up that torch.
THIS IS WHAT WE FUCKING LOST
some concept art... omg. so mad. the kid looks so adorable and i love him already and IM SO MAD WE WILL NEVER SEE HIM GET HIS WELL-DESERVED DEBUT ON THE BIG SCREEN.
another studio BETTER pick it up. it deserves so much better. this is such an important story to tell and just to have it shelved; to have it cancelled... Sony i have nothing but ire towards you.
