Sketching random people encountered while having meals or chilling in cafes -- my usual go to places are kopitiams (eateries) near where I stay. People come and go and there is always no lack of subjects to sketch from. People move all the time so you are constantly managing time to complete a drawing, simplifying as you go and capturing the essence of their poses, shapes and sizes.

Starting the first sketch on a new sketch book. The usual sketching spot on a weekend - a neighbourhood food market. Anyway we have been here for breakfast and meals for 20 years. Nothing has changed much. There were some stalls that closed and left and there were new ones that came and stayed. The aunty that cooked up my favourite ikanbilis fried rice has retired for more than 10 years but I still remember how her fried rice taste like. There are stalls that lasted for so long and there are stalls that I have not even patronised once. The food market is always known for cheap street food while the effect of inflation is not that evident. Crossing my fingers that this will stay more or less the same for the next 10 years. I wouldn't want things to change much not even when I am ready to retire.

If you love drawing people, there is no short of subjects out there. Plus the fact that safety measures are eased so there are now more people out and about.
