Any Garo character, any letter commie wants

I don’t think it’s come up recently, or possibly at all, but I am in love with Leo, and I watched the episode in which he and Kaoru go to see the Spirit Beast just the other day and can’t stop thinking about it. It may be my favorite Garo story so far.

V is for vibrant

First, the tuft.

Makai Priests do not use ink on their brushes, but they must be cleaned regularly. Without regular and careful maintenance the flow of ki may become blocked. Just as a Makai Knight’s sword will never lose its edge, but nonetheless must be oiled and polished, a Madou Brush requires care.

Cold water runs down Leo’s hands, down the head of the brush, and he squeezes it gently to work out every whisper of ki trapped within and thinks, Perhaps I should have kissed her.

His senses are no longer enhanced; he must work by mere touch and faulty human eyesight and his painstakingly developed sensitivity to the flow of energy. He feels the last of the build-up fly free, and reaches for a soft cloth with which to pat away excess moisture. The brush will need to be hung upside-down to dry fully, its so-soft bristles pointed to the floor so that they retain their correct shape and so that any tiny remaining fragments may drip away, but it cannot be hung until it is no longer soaking. That might introduce mildew, which would render it entirely unusable.

Next, the shaft.

He checks, first, the cuff which holds the bristles in place, cleans it with another cloth, feels for damage to the engravings, looks for interruptions in the design. Nothing out of place, which he knew. Every design is whole, the wood is not splintering where it meets cuff or cap. He has cared meticulously for this brush for years.

No, he thinks as he polishes the lacquered handle to a high shine, kissing her would have been inappropriate. Especially as she stood with the face of her beloved in her mind.

Nevertheless. He would have liked to kiss her.

Last, the cap, and the string of beads trailing from it.

The cap is in perfect condition, and begins to gleam with barely a touch of the cloth. The beads must be handled more delicately, and do not take such a high shine. They may need to be restrung, judging by the state of their cord; he’ll do that soon, although not before the bristles are dry.

Delicately he runs his fingers over each bead, checking to make sure that none are in danger of cracking, and he thinks of the air filled with flashes of color on their path to the Spirit Beast. It had been beautiful. He thinks of the parade of spirit creatures for which they’d stopped, and smiles at the memory of the fox child who had shadowed their movements. Had she seen it as well? Will that sly creature make it into her sketchbook, and from there into the picture book to which she’s devoting so much of her energy?

Her hand had been warm in his when they’d walked like that, and he’d quietly hoped that though he was only one man, his fervent affection would be enough to see them both through that stretch of the path. And her paintbrush had looked loved when she took it from her bag and held it up to be blessed, a tool of her own magic for all that it was machine-made and without potency.

He hangs the brush up to dry, smoothing the bristles so that they’ll point correctly. Perhaps she is doing something similar, elsewhere in the house, perhaps she’s washing the residue of watercolors from her newly-blessed paintbrush as a painting dries on her easel. It’s not a painting for him, he knows, just as he knows who she’ll give it to, and how much that man deserves it.

Madou Brushes are invested with tremendous potency, but they do not touch ink or paint. They cannot bring color and light to the world. In that way, maybe hers is a stronger magic.

I wish I had kissed her, he thinks as he sits back down, but then he remembers the look of wonder on her face at the Spirit Beast’s approach, and he smiles anyway. But this was a worthwhile gift to give.

Makai Retsuden 5 part 2 meta

Hehe... I just had to do this. Another rewatch with proper subs. Haha.

So turned out most of the things I understood from the initial watch was not too far off.

And yeah, on second rewatch I confirmed it. Cos last time I barely remembered how Sigma’s Gouryu looked like... so I just called the thing that attacked Yuna as a horror. But then, seeing it again... I realized that it’s a Gouryu and most likely used by Leo to test Yuna’s ability. (And this is even before Leo confirmed it in the next scene.) So that would fit in as to why he wouldn’t let Kain interfere.

And it seemed, despite early on Yuna had practised her swordmanship with her Madou brush, she hadn’t really considered fighting using both sword and brush. But due to Kain’s words earlier, Yuna decided to fight with both her identity as a knight and priest. So that’s a good thing, regarding Leo’s test. And that one scene where Yuna tried to attempt to summon an armour using both Makai sword and Madou brush does hint on a possibility that one day Yuna might be able to achieve the impossible. And I believe Leo saw it too since after that point he finally decided that the test was over.

But really, for the Senate to send Leo to test Yuna’s ability does hint that maybe the Senate too was changing. That they might consider the possibility that a female could become a knight. (Even if they can’t summon armours.) Despite being strong in the Yin energy, which made them more suitable as priest. And there’s also the fact that Makai Armours are strong in Yin energies and having a female wield it might prove dangerous. Aka the timer or the length of time for one to have the armour on would be even shorter than if a male knight uses it. And a female knight would have to have themselves underwent purification ceremony much more often than a male knight would to cleanse themselves of the dark energies. 

And that, might also be the reason why Leo doesn’t stress on the importance of the armour. Because skill-wise, Yuna was still pretty good. And she was able to unsheath her father’s sword whenever she needed it (and Kain wasn’t able to do it) as well as carry the sword around like it barely weighed much. Sure, it’s partially due to the spell to embed Kuroudo’s bone into her arm. But it’s also due to her mental control, since soul metals can be very heavy or very light depending on one’s mental control. That part’s entirely Yuna. That, should already hints on Yuna’s ability as a knight. And also, the sword itself might already accepted Yuna as its new wielder.

That aside, I feel like I was right about Leo referencing Kouga. Because who else would have earned Leo’s undying admiration besides Kouga? Also yes... that ‘one’s pride as a knight’ was definitely something Kouga would say. But really... I love Leo and Zero. Kouga really influence them so much~~ And I guess Zero did gossiped to Leo regarding the two. XD

but so yeah while I was watching Makai Senki I kept thinking Leo had a ponytail for some reason and I was so disappointed when he would turn around and was totally ponytail-less
