Not seen anything on tumblr about it so I'm making my own post. Ireland is seeing some of the strongest direct action against the ruling class it has seen in decades in protests against rising fuel costs, demanding an emergency tax cut.
Farmers have organised stand outs and blockades across the country. Over the last weekend, they occupied O'Connell street in Dublin and blockaded a fuel depo in Whitegate using farm machinery, which lasted multiple days. For now the Dublin and Whitegate protests have ended, with the military sent in to forcefully break up the protest in Whitegate, but they're still ongoing in other parts of the country.
And the kicker? It's largely a centre right movement. There's even been far right involvement to a lesser degree. This is the Fine Gael voting middle class rural population. I've been involved with the revolutionary left in Ireland for years and we never got anywhere close to acheiving something this big. This should be a kick up the arse for Irish leftists to get our act together.
Back the basic demands. Defend the right to protest. Oppose the frauds on the far-right and discuss the protest leaders, but let's keep comi
