A special Thanksgiving edition! 🦃

I'm also grateful for @mega-aulover @disgurrr @norbertsmom and the aforementioned @atelierlili for all of their hard work on making @fandomsunited4hr happen and running the fundraiser for charities supporting the relief efforts for Hurricane Helene. While no longer technically a WIP, I wanted to share a snippet from my fic for the collection, Over the Mountain, an Everlark fanfiction of present-day Katniss meeting an impossibly familiar stranger, Peeta, and a Victorian Kaitlin falling in love with and losing her soulmate, Peter. You can read it as soon as Saturday if you make a donation to a charity helping bring relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. See @fandomsunited4hr for more info.

He had been the best part of coming to England and the only thing that had made her glad she'd come. "Our company must be as husband and wife?" she asked. "I have told you that it need not be. I will always be your friend." "But you will marry someone else and love her better than me, for you are good, and a good man does not love another woman more than his own wife. And I will hate her, and you, and I will regret not marrying you the moment the banns are read for your other bride," Kaitlin cried. "This is what I mean! I have no other choice but to marry you!"

did you know 30+ hunger games artists and friends have put together a collection releasing this saturday? and the proceeds go towards helping those impacted by hurricane helene?

i participated in the collection! here’s a snippet from my fic:

Haymitch sits there, letting the boy take in the sight of him. Acclimate to his intruder. When the beeping from the machines he’s attached to starts to slow down, Haymitch breaks the silence. “Hey, kid,” is all he can initially think to say.

Peeta’s eyes narrow. “What do you want?” he asks, and from the sound of his voice, he doesn’t really care about the answer. Good thing Haymitch has been dealing with him long enough to ignore the kid’s wants for his own good.

“Not sure. Seems like your doctors got sick of watching you lay here all day while Delly yaps her head off. Wanted a better show.”

Go, Write Me a Letter

Submitted for This Would Have Happened Challenge Summer 2024 - Districts Apart

In a Panem where the Hunger Games are a distant past, each male citizen has to complete a year-long military duty and it is Peeta's time to go. Thinking this might be her last chance to thank him for their fateful encounter years back, Katniss comes to see him off. Words fail her at the train station, but many more find them over the next year. A love story across districts told over letters.

In the latest chapter, Peeta travels to District 10, which was recently hit by an earthquake, and witnesses scenes similar to those we saw in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene this September. [...] Given my visits to all districts of Panem I’m even more impressed by the luxury of this place. Nothing is like this, not even in the most prosperous districts. No…Here is a bunch of people who don't know that there is nothing beyond plenty. They carry drinks filled to the brim, spilling over their tailored suits and extravagant feasts that could make a table groan with its weight. Crystal chandeliers on the ceiling, large ice sculptures and sparkling fountains in the middle of the dance floor.

To answer your question, I think it didn't make me laugh, but more like made me smile for hours is @rottentiger-art piece, it was so adorable. I loved how Peeta and Katniss were drawn, and the cuteness of them.

Thank you! I've had this idea for a Stranger Things/THG fusion fic for years but never had enough guts to write it. But when I was asked if I would contribute a piece for FUHR, I thought what better time to try something a little out of my comfort zone? I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Obviously (as I always seem to do...) it got a little out of hand in terms of length so I'm looking forward to finishing it and posting the entirety once the collection can go live in 2025!
