From This Moment On || Fuinn Performance || Self-Para
Taking the stage, Finn looked out. This was no karaoke bar, no show choir performance, it wasn't even as nerve wracking as the speech he'd delivered a short while earlier in front of the same audience. With a speech you don't need perfect pitch, at best they're focused on the content of what you're saying and not how you're saying it. Nothing up until now had quite prepared him for a spotlight so bright as this one, in a moment that needed to be so perfect. For Santana, and for Brittany. Luckily, the graceful blonde to his right standing on the stage sharing in this moment seemed to be much more at home up here, the classically trained actress who just days earlier had been wowing the audiences with her performance as Lady MacBeth. He and Quinn had talked at length about what song to sing for their two friends, and ended up deciding on a modern wedding classic... "From This Moment On" by Shania Twain and Bryan White.
Taking a deep breath as he scanned the crowd again, searching out for the pair of eyes that would give him more inspiration than any. A pair of chocolate brown eyes who'd had more than her fair share of spotlights this intense, eyes that were these days staring back at thousands of people a week as she performed on an Off-Broadway stage. Eyes that he just couldn't find in the moment. The music now beginning, as the soft spoken intro was being delivered by Quinn, Finn looked over to her.
I do swear that I'll always be there. I'd give anything and everything and I will always care. Through weakness and strength, happiness and sorrow, for better for worse, I will love you with every beat of my heart.
Instead it was hazel eyes which gave him sudden strength, and a calmness overtaking him as she sang the first words of the song proper, and raising the microphone to his lips to join in as the former glee co-captain lost himself in the moment and began to sing his part.
From this moment life has begun From this moment you are the one Right beside you is where I belong From this moment on
It was coming easy for him. Following his duet partner's lead, Finn let his voice join alongside hers; they'd practiced on Skype and in person the couple of times in recent weeks he'd been able to get down to New Haven, but never had they sounded so good together. Relief now starting to warm him, Finn's confidence only grew as he moved slightly closer to Quinn on stage and began to move his look from out in the crowd over to the two beaming brides. The song was for them, it might as well have been written about them as for the next verse Finn took lead.
From this moment I have been blessed I live only for your happiness And for your love I'd give my last breath From this moment on
The music changing pace slightly, lead switching back to Quinn and the best man shot Santana and Brittany a warm smile. This day, this whole week leading up to the event was for them, and it just seemed so natural that dedicating a song to them would be the best way to go about thanking them for including him in things.
I give my hand to you with all my heart Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start You and I will never be apart My dreams came true because of you From this moment as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this There is nothing I wouldn't give From this moment on
With a short break in the song as the instrumentals picked up, it was a chance to keep composure knowing the most intense part of the song was coming up directly. Glancing back to Quinn again now, giving her a look that clearly said "This is it, big finish", he grinned and prepared to give it everything he had for the rest of the performance.
You're the reason I believe in love And you're the answer to my prayers from up above All we need is just the two of us My dreams came true because of you From this moment as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this There is nothing I wouldn't give From this moment I will love you as long as I live From this moment on
Finishing out the song softly, holding on the last note as the music quieted down, Finn opened his eyes which had instinctively shut, and the audience loudly applauded the performance. Grinning once more, he looked over to Quinn who was radiating with excitement and took her by the hand so they could bow once to the crowd, and then both turned to the brides to bow to them too. This was a moment Finn wanted to hold onto for as long as he could.
