Very good history lesson on what happened at Fukushima and how the real reason the nuclear plant failed was negligence on the power company after repeated warnings over decades that the disaster prevention currently in place would not be enough

Nuclear power is safe but you must respect the power you are trying to harness. Both Chernobyl and Fukishima were designed back in the days when nuclear power was still new, current plant designs are far safer and even if a meltdown occurs it is designed to keep all contaminants from being released.
