Listening to record's from this period absolutely blew me away with their pure genius. Fulfillingness' First Finale, nestle's between Innervisions and Song's In The Key Of Life. It was recorded just after he was in a car accident, which placed him in a coma for four days. WHAT'S (STILL) GOING ON, #5. Stevie Wonder, Fulfillingness' First Finale. Like all the Stevie albums from this period it's got nothing but great songs on it (well, a couple of the songs I get kind of distracted and daydream through). I listened to this like a year ago, but wanted to throw it on again right now to play "You Haven't Done Nothin'," the funkiest of explicit protest songs I know. It's got the clavinet, it's got the Jackson 5, it's got the horn section, it's got that "Doooo Doo-Wop" bit and lyrics like, "But we are sick and tired of hearing your song/Tellin' how you are gonna change right from wrong/'Cause if you really want to hear our views/You haven't done nothin'"....again, ***a song from 1974.*** It kicks off the second side. But on Side A, right in the second verse of the first side's second song, he asks, "Why must my color black make me a lesser man?" Before cell phone videos and police body cameras I would have thought it sounded like a 1970s song.
