RJ's Platinum Collection #27: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst

After getting the Platinums for both the first and second Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm games, it only made sense for me to get the Platinum on the third one!
I actually had begun playing this game right after I finished the story mode on the second game, but I didn't actually go for the Platinum because, at the time, I thought it'd look weird to platinum the third game before the second game. So this game also took me forever to Platinum since the second game took forever. But I did eventually get it, and WOW this game is so much harder than the first two games!
As usual, I started off with playing through the third game's story mode. The gameplay was pretty much exactly the same as the second game - big open world, except they added new villages to travel to, and they also added new fighting sections that were more like the Dynasty Warriors games than 2D fighting. You could also make decisions at certain point in the story that would determine which fights you participated in, the Hero Path or the Legend Path, with some choices giving you much harder fights than others.
The story covered everything from after the Pein Arc up until the final battle against Madara and Tobi. Fun fact, this game actually came out BEFORE the final battle actually took place in the anime. So to avoid spoiling people who hadn't read the manga, they invented a completely non-canon ending to Naruto that is exclusive to this game. I think that is very cool!
Anyway, I played the whole story and got quite a few trophies, but I got a lot less S Ranks on fights the first time around than I did in the second game. I didn't even get very many A Ranks! Like I said, this game was MUCH harder than Ultimate Ninja Storm 2!

With the story completed, I decided to get one quick trophy out of the way, for visiting all villages on the map. The only village you didn't actually visit during the story made was Kumogakure, so I just had to pop over there using the fast travel ninja, and boom I had a trophy.
33/55: Ninja World Traveler - Visited all villages.
Next I decided to get all the remaining combat related trophies I had yet to get. For that, I first played the Tournament Mode, which is where you choose a character and three characters to fight. Once I beat all three of them, I got that trophy. Next, I got three trophies by manipulating Free Battle mode by following some very helpful YouTube videos.
34/55: First Championship - You won your first tournament.
35/55: Taijutsu Master - Performed a 50-hit combo.
36/55: Magnificent Victory - You won a battle with a full health bar.
37/55: Blasting Off - Performed a Ring-Out KO.
Up next I decided to go for unlocking the Fragments, which is a bonus chapter focusing on Sasuke and Chakra Ghost Itachi fighting Kabuto. However, in order to unlock the Fragments, I first had to do a bunch of fetch quests for a tiny frog on a statue. Specifically, I had to retrieve 5000 - yes, FIVE THOUSAND - pieces of chakra and return them to the tiny frog in batches. Once I did that, I was able to play the Fragments chapter, which spoiler alert was VERY HARD. But I was eventually able to beat the Kabuto boss fight and get the trophy.
38/55: Avenger of the Move - You cleared the Fragments.
Next up I had to complete the Ninja World Timeline. This is something you can unlock by talking to Shikaku Nara in the village square, which will allow you to start collecting 131 timeline scrolls. Finding the scrolls will unlock special battles from the pre-Shippuden Naruto story as well as Shippuden events from the second game. You get the scrolls by completing story missions, side missions, and finding them in the open world. Once you get all 131 scrolls and finish all the battles, you get the trophy!
39/55: Historian - Completed the Ninja World Timeline.
Once I had done that, I got to the second hardest part of my platinum journey for this game. Like I said earlier, I had barely gotten any A Rank or S Ranks in all the boss fights, which means I had to replay several of the fights to try and get them. This took me awhile, as a few of these fights, especially the Gedo Statue fight, the Kage vs. Madara fight, and the absolutely horrible and way too long final battle where you have to fight all the Jinchuuriki, all of the Tailed Beasts, AND three separate fights with Tobi all in a row and without letting your health get below 50% for the ENTIRE. DAMN. BATTLE. Seriously, that final battle almost made me destroy my console trying to get an S Rank in it. But eventually, miraculously, I managed to get S Ranks in all boss fights, getting me closer to the platinum trophy.
40/55: Fists of Determination - Got S Rank in The Rumbling Coast.
41/55: 3rd Unit Rules! - Got S Rank in Threat of the Seven Swordsmen.
42/55: Five Kage at Full Power - Got A Rank or higher in Bet The Future.
43/55: Uchiha Against Five Kage - Got S Rank in Bet The Future.
44/55: End of the War - Got A Rank or higher in The Last Battle.
45/55: Hero of the Ninja World - Got S Rank in The Last Battle.
46/55: Memories In Your Heart - Saw all Secret Factors.
47/55: Wondrous Vision - Got A Rank or higher in Brothers United.
48/55: The Dragon-Slayer Brothers - Got S Rank in Brothers United.
49/55: Conquered Formidables - Got S Rank in all boss battles.
50/55: Tales That Live in an Instant - Successfully performed all Secret Actions.
Somehow, I was only 25 hours into playing the game by the time I finished all of this. So I just paused the game and left it alone for a few hours until I hit 30 and then got the trophy.
51/55: Thanks For All Your Time! - Your total play time in Ultimate Adventure is over 30 hours.
And now for the hardest part of the game.
The Mission Battles.
These are 100 fights where you MUST complete the fight while completing certain challenges. For example, one Mission Battle was having to successfully dodge 25 times with my health at 1%. These fights were so. Fucking. HARD. And they took me the longest to complete. Once I beat the 100th Mission Battle, which saw me having to fight an extremely overpowered Itachi, I almost cried from joy at finishing the challenges, which got me my coveted Platinum Trophy!
52/55: Proof of Growth - Collected 10 or more Image Pieces.
53/55: The Hero's Long March - Completed 50 or more Mission Battles.
54/55: Enlightenment - Completed all Mission Battles.
55/55: Consummate Storm Master - You won all trophies.
I think this was my favorite of the Ultimate Ninja Storm games. I think it did an awesome job of adapting the Ninja World War, and I loved the additions they made to the combat. And I was VERY happy that it didn't have bullshit online trophies! Even though some of the trophies were insanely hard to get, it just made it all the more rewarding when I was able to accomplish the platinum.
This game, all in all, just reminded me of all the reasons I love Naruto.
