Hey family! I need your infinite wisdom. I'm procrastinating on finding an InuKag fic I read a while ago and remember really liking. I've been searching for it on Fanfiction and Ao3, but I can't find it.
The story is set post-canon and I can’t really remember if it’s one shot or maybe 2/3 chapters but it’s not a very long one. During a battle against demons, Inuyasha loses Tessaiga and transforms, badly wounded. Somehow, they end up in a hunter’s hut for a few days because without Tessaiga, Inu is still a full yokai, but he recognizes Kagome as his mate and takes care of her in every way 😏😉 I remember the story was sweet and hot. I don’t want to spoil so I’ll stop here, but let’s say that when all is back to normal Inu has a few remnants of memories and freaks out a little but Kagome is a very happy wife 😂😂
Can you please help me find it??? THAAASAANKKSSS!!! Love u all
Been on a nostalgia kick lately in drawing some Inuyashas, and there are simply *not enough* screenshots of his full-demon form, so here are some more~ This is also one of my fave eps of all time! I had it recorded on VHS and I think almost broke the tape from rewatching it so much lol (and yes, I am that old)
So I'm watching the episode where InuYasha turns into a full demon for the 1st time and it got me thinking.
For all the times Inuyasha turned full demon he never ONCE went after Kagome. That is unless there's an outside malevolent influence or force trying to control Inu in his demon form, but even then Inuyasha fights against that outside influence while still in his demon form.
But when it's just InuYasha himself in his demon form without any outside evil to influence him, he's never attacked Kagome, or even the rest of his friends for that matter. Sure, Demon InuYasha's been weary of Kagome and the gang (especially during the 1st transformation) but he's never actually turned his claws against them and tried to attack them. And I have a theory that maybe its because Inu's demon recognizes Kagome and the others as people who are special to him. He doesn't fully recognize them, per se, but his instincts know on some base level that he cares about these people, ESPECIALLY Kagome.
Perhaps Demon InuYasha understands that these people are apart of his pack, and that Kagome in particular is someone who he cares a great deal for. *cough*his intended mate*cough*
Anyway, it was just something I noticed while rewatching this episode. Correct me though if I'm wrong.
Summary: When threats arise, Inuyasha calls upon his inner demon and regrets what happens next.
Miroku would admit he was a selfish man. For so many reasons. He’d stolen, lied, cheated and done a plethora of other questionable things in his day. Still, for all his greedy ways in the past, he found himself wanting one thing that had no monetary value but was the most precious thing he ever had the pleasure of calling his own. Priceless. Beautiful.
Yes, he wanted that right now. More than he had ever desired anything.
He wanted his wife and his children.
Instead, he was laying in a pool of his own blood listening as his friend…
Arguably his best friend….
Went on a violent rampage over which the poor man had little to no control. For whatever reason, the villagers who’d called for them had done so for the sole purpose of taking out the monk who had been ‘corrupted’ and the demon who’d allegedly had stolen the souls out of the villagers he, in fact, protected. The demon who had stolen a legendary miko and kept her prisoner for his dark sexual perversions. Yes, Inuyasha was truly evil being according to these idiots.
Because the half-demon lived in a village which welcomed him. Because he had friends. Because he had a wife. Because he had hard earned respect. Because gods forbid he was happy.
For this reason, Miroku couldn’t find it in him to care that said villagers - and the mercenaries they’d hired - were being mindlessly slaughtered. The problem being, of course, that Inuyasha was too busy murdering people to realize Miroku needed medical attention and would most likely wind up killing him because he was killing everybody.
Shuddering, jerking and gasping for oxygen that simply wasn’t there, Miroku closed his eyes and tried to focus on his favorite faces in the world. Replaying their voices and their smiles over and over in his mind. He was going to leave them just like his father and grandfather had left their own children behind. So much for breaking a cycle. So much for his own efforts to be a good father - something he’d been trying very hard to be. For all his perverted behavior, he had wanted to have his own children since basically forever and that desire was completely separate from his desire to defeat the ‘curse’ that had once plagued him.
A few tears streamed down his bloodied cheek before his shuddering struggles for air began flirting with hyperventilation. Footsteps. Heavy, slow, squelching footsteps accompanied by a low steady growl and heavy breathing. The screaming and sounds of battle had largely stopped. Distant sounds of women and children whimpering broke the heavy silence and…
Wrinkling his nose, Miroku had to admit the fact that there were clearly survivors was odd.
“Don’t even think about it,” a strange deep version of his friend’s voice hissed followed by a feminine strangled gasp.
A shadow darkened his closed eyelids and while Miroku hoped he handled his impending murder with dignity, he couldn’t hold back the sob that escaped when a hand suddenly gripped his neck.
“Bastards,” the voice huffed angrily as the pressure increased and the demon’s free hand…
Moved to cut away the soaked fabric plastered onto the monk’s chest before those same fingers gently began inspecting the wounds.
Violet eyes fluttered just enough to see a fully demon Inuyasha worriedly looking over the wounds - his hand still firmly pressed against his neck.
“You,” the demon suddenly barked as his face whipped towards someone nearby, “Do you have any bandages?”
A faint squeak.
“Get them.”
A demand first and a threat inherent in the tone. Groaning, Miroku jerked slightly as he tried to force his eyes open and figure out exactly what was happening.
“Stay still. I’m not gunna hurt you.”
Another harsh, gruff demand. But this time it was undercut by worry and sounded oddly apologetic.
And then something that actually made the monk let out an odd painful sounding laugh. Some bandages had apparently been thrown and landed square in his face. Another terrified squeak and a half-sob before the squelching of mud. A baby started crying. A mother whispered terrified reassurances in an attempt to soothe her child.
A gravely sigh.
“Ain’t their fault their men were bastards,” Inuyasha’s strange voice mumbled as two strong arms suddenly scooped up his body and they began moving, “And children shouldn’t pay the price for the sins of their fathers.”
Too out of it and far too confused to make sense of that statement, Miroku simply focused on breathing - a task which was growing more impossible with each passing moment.
“Don’t you die on me,” Inuyasha’s gruff voice ordered suddenly as the hold on his body was adjusted, “We’re…we’re just gunna get you all cleaned and bandaged up and get you home, okay?”
Violet eyes fluttering again, the fuzzy sight of the jagged purple lines and a hint of crimson left the monk with even more questions that would probably never be answered.
The demon glanced down at the monk, saw his mildly terrified yet utterly bewildered expression and sighed.
“Feel…different but I’m…,” Inuyasha offered wearily - almost like he’d read the monk’s fading mind, “Clear. For now. I’ll probably feel guilty as fuck in the morning but I had to...I needed to protect you. And everyone. They planned on heading home next. They’ve been watching us. Knew our wives were unprotected. Knew you have brats. Assholes couldn’t be allowed to live. They had to go.... and I wasn’t strong enough so...”
Even more confused and on the brink of passing out, Miroku felt the tension in his muscles leave in one fell swoop. His head falling back as his eyes rolled back.
“Oh no you don’t. Stay with me dammit. Stay-“
Groaning softly, Miroku tried to take stock of his surroundings amidst incredible pain and a static filled mind. The sounds and feelings and sensations not making sense with what had been happening mere seconds ago. It was the oddest thing. A fully demonic Inuyasha had been walking him into a forest after having massacred most, if not all, of the men in the strange village from hell. And yet he felt dry. Clean. The scent of bitter herbs now burned his nose and there was a blanket. A pillow. A bed. A soft yet calloused finger running down the side of his cheek.
“Hey, um, Sango? Would it be okay…well, the twins are wanting to go swimming. Is that okay?” a familiar voice asked and despite his attempts, Miroku’s mind was too sluggish to figure out who exactly was talking. The face he could somewhat see in his mind’s eye but the name…
The finger stroking his cheek paused.
“Y-yeah. I’m sure that will be fine.”
Miroku’s back arched as he desperately tried to open his eyes to confirm that he was home. He was home but how…
The sound of footsteps and distant excited squeals had Miroku struggling harder and emitting a relieved half-sob.
“Stay still. You’re still healing,” his wife cooed hoarsely as a pair of lips pressed firmly against his temple, “You’re alright. I’m right here.”
Letting out a shaky whimper, Miroku tried to speak only to find his voice completely gone. His wife, clever as ever, seemed to know what he wanted to figure out.
“It’s been about four days. Inuyasha brought you back,” his wife - his lovely, beautiful feisty wife - offered by way of explanation, “He’s…been struggling but Kagome says its because he’s in ‘fight or flight mode.’ Inuyasha said they planned to come here?”
Breathing heavily, yet admitted much easier than he had been, Miroku nodded weakly. His ears might have been ringing and there had been a nearly fatal level of blood loss, but the threat had been voiced loud enough for even him to hear it. Inuyasha probably had heard more.
“Well, I can’t say I’m sorry Inuyasha killed them then,” Sango huffed once as her fingers resumed stroking his cheek, “He’s also I think killed a few people who ventured too close these past few days. He won’t admit it, but he hasn’t denied it either…”
A short distance away in his own hut with his own wife, Inuyasha could be found damn near clinging to his wife – whimpering and huffing and shaking uncontrollably. His head throbbing painfully and his stomach churning.
“It w-won’t s-stop,” Inuyasha managed to get out as his breathing tried to match the frantic beating of his heart and his muscles jerked underneath his skin, “M-make it s-stop.”
“Just breathe,” Kagome cooed reassuringly as she pet his hair and held him tightly, “We’re all safe.”
“H-he d-doesn’t think so,” Inuyasha choked out between catching rapid breaths – his face burying itself once again in his wife’s chest, “T-thinks t-there’s s-still a t-threat.”
“Okay but, I mean, the good thing is that you’re in control this time,” Kagome repeated what she’d been saying these past few days, “Once things calm down, you’ll be back to normal in no time.”
Inuyasha’s trembling arms held her slightly tighter.
“A-and i-if I-I-I’m n-not?”
“Well then we’ll get you some calming tea and try to manage your anxiety,” Kagome hummed and Inuyasha’s struggles to breathe regularly were interrupted by a derisive scoff.
“T-tea? S-seriously?”
“Do you not like tea?” Kagome asked playfully as she began fondling one ear and Inuyasha let out a miserable sounding groan. Sure, her words were comforting in a way. She wasn’t going to up and leave him but at the same time...he wasn’t really in the mood for jokes. Or anything that didn’t consist of him bouncing back from this death trap he’d set up for himself. He never should’ve let the demon in him rise up. Never. Worst mistake of his life right there.
Still...Kagome was trying to lighten the mood and since he'd just inadvertently made her life infinitely shittier, he might as well play along
“No tea. M-maybe S-sango c-can k-knock m-me o-out,” Inuyasha tried to joke as he adjusted himself more comfortably atop his wife and let his weight sag against her, “O-or y-y-ou could p-p-purify me?”
“Tonight is the new moon. Hopefully that will make you right again. Reset your settings,” Kagome offered and Inuyasha managed a jerky nod against her chest. A second passed then two.
“M-monk’s awake. Thank fuck f-for that,” Inuyasha rasped out as one of his ears suddenly twitched in that direction. Despite that information being good, seconds after those words escaped, Inuyasha let out a muttered curse. His eyes fluttering closed as his head throbbed even more painfully and his heart picked up speed until each beat was almost painful. Instead of making his predicament better, the threat - real or imagined - was suddenly made more urgent by the miraculous recovery. Instead of a dying pack member or what have you, there was now an injured one. Which made his already hyped up body decide to go into an even greater state of constant panic. Great. Amazing. Wow.
Fuck.
“Shhhhh. He’s okay. You’re okay. Everything is okay,” Kagome reassured him as she felt the rhythmic pounding against her stomach – a side effect of his heart trying to beat out of his chest.
“S’not okay. S’not. N-need to check p-perimeter,” Inuyasha whined softly as he pushed himself up on trembling arms, “M’sorry. F-feel like s-something is there. I d-don’t-”
“Don’t apologize. You want me to come with you?” Kagome asked wearily and Inuyasha shook his head once.
“J-just m-make sure I c-come back,” he breathed miserably before dipping forward and capturing her lips.
“Yeah. No,” Kagome mumbled against his lips, “I’m coming with-”
“Don’t. Please. L-love you,” he offered in a heartbroken tone when he finally pulled back and pressed his forehead firmly against his wife’s own, “I-I’ll see y-you s-soon.”
Not even an hour later, Inuyasha came back into the hut looking more ragged and defeated than ever. The dark circles beneath his eyes gave the impression his crimson eyes were sinking into his skull. His skin looked ashen and taut. But it was his haunted expression that told Kagome all she needed to know.
“Someone else was there?” she asked wearily and Inuyasha nodded faintly - unwilling or unable to meet her gaze. Given that he was unusually clean, the odds that he’d killed yet another soul - poor or not - seemed low. However, the fact that he looked even worse than he had....
“Did you-“
Stumbling forward and crumpling onto the bed, Inuyasha let out a shuddering breath and shook his head.
“No. No didn’t...didn’t kill him. It was…that weird monk guy,” Inuyasha mumbled breathlessly as he curled into a ball, “Said he would h-he was h-here to...to help.”
Kagome’s eyes fluttered as she tried and failed to pin point exactly who he meant. And, of course, wrap her mind around the fact that his demon had allowed a clear threat - unlike some of the others - to live.
“A weird..monk?” she repeated watching Inuyasha tremble in his attempts to breathe regularly amidst his near constant hyper vigilant anxiety.
“S-said his name was Ungai? A-asked weird q-questions. S-saw me on m-my human n-night, remember?” Inuyasha offered - his breathing becoming sporadic and catching, “H-he’s g-gunna s-stick around. R-run interference. With a-any d-demons t-t-tonight.”
“Tonight. And…you believe him?” Kagome asked skeptically - truly shocked by the weak nod even as Inuyasha reached up with trembling fingertips to tap his nose.
“Told the t-t-truth. He f-figured out w-what r-really happened,” Inuyasha managed as his eyelids fluttered closed and his hand reached up to shakily wipe at his face, “A-and that he s-saw R-Rin. S-said t-that he k-knew h-her and t-that meant s-s-something.”
“I’m guessing that will have gotten back to Sesshomaru by now. He seems to have some type of radar when it comes to her,” Kagome hummed wearily and Inuyasha nodded grateful that he understood the reference before she continued, “But that means we have someone else who can take up the mantle. Allow you to recover.”
“S-sure. I-in theory,” Inuyasha chuckled darkly as one hand reached up to massage his stiff neck, “O-or he’ll j-just take R-Rin and run.”
“She won’t stand for that. Last few times he’s been here, she’s been the one holding the leash so to speak,” Kagome opined with a heavy sigh, “He goes where she says and she isn’t going to leave us unprotected.”
Inuyasha sincerely disagreed with that assessment but couldn’t find it in him to start a fight over this stupid little opinion. A very stupid opinion at that.
“D-doesn’t m-m-matter,” Inuyasha offered breathlessly - his chest faltering as he buried half his face into the bedding and seemed to somehow looked even more haggard than he had when he first arrived, “M’so t-tired.”
“I know. I know you are,” Kagome cooed sympathetically as she moved to the bed, sat down and patted her thigh, “Come here.”
Inuyasha let out a miserable sounding whine and subtly shook his head.
“N-n-no.”
“Why no?” Kagome countered with a huff of affectionate irritation, “You’re going to give yourself a heart attack if you don’t calm-“
“N-n-not like I can h-help it,” he groaned as he opened his eyes and gave her an bleary glare, “This o-o-only happened because t-they k-knew y-y-you were m-my w-wife. Knew e-everything a-about u-us. The babies? Knew how many. N-names. A-ages. Tried to k-kill Miroku b-because-”
Kagome huffed.
“Okay, you could not have-“
“I h-heard them. A-after they s-stabbed me, t-they…they were t-talking about c-c-coming here,” Inuyasha whined miserably - his eyes again fluttering closed as his chest continued heaving, “A-and when M-Miroku s-started t-to die I…I b-became this. I chose to l-let this happen. W-what i-if if n-never s-stops? If I-I broke s-somet-thing?”
“Tonight is the new moon. Hopefully when you turn human, it’ll-“
“T-that m-monk figured o-out m-my night. W-why h-he c-came t-today,” Inuyasha managed to rasp as his arms curled around his stomach, “S-said h-he k-knew we’d n-need e-extra h-help.”
Screaming internally, Kagome knew that was probably the reason Inuyasha seemed to be even more panicked than normal and why he seemed to be struggling so much. Or not. There was no telling anymore.
“I’m going to send Sango or Kohaku to talk with them,” Kagome offered wearily as she got to her feet before pausing when Inuyasha’s hand shot out to lightly grip her ankle.
“A-already talked to K-Kaede. S-she’ll h-handle it,” Inuyasha informed her before turning a sickly shade of green and rolling off the futon just in time to empty the limited contents of his stomach. Retching and jerking, what came up was mostly bile and even though his wife had quickly gathered his hair, it didn’t stop half of it from being covered in the putrid liquid.
“M’so t-t-tired,” Inuyasha choked out hoarsely as he sat slightly back and balled up his fists - tears freely flowing down his cheeks, “P-purify m-me o-or s-something p-please.”
“Tonight is the new-“
A painful sounding whine cut her off.
“I d-don’t f-feel it. I don’t. N-nothing. N-no p-pull. N-no drain. W-what if I’m l-like this f-forever?”
“Let’s focus on one thing at a time, okay? First, we’re going to get you cleaned up. Then, we’re going to lay down and you’re going to try to get some rest,” Kagome offered as she stood and gently tried to coax him onto his feet, “Come-“
“P-please p-purify me,” Inuyasha choked out a sob - his body sagging and tears welling in the corners of his unnatural eyes, “What if I-I get worse? G-go mindless, huh? I l-lost you once. I c-can’t do t-that again.”
“We need to get you cleaned up. Then we’ll try some things to relax you,” Kagome offered as she once again tugged on his arm, “Besides-”
When Inuyasha let out a painful sounding whine and pressed his hands against his ears, his wife trailed off. Kneeling down, careful to miss the watery vomit, Kagome gently yet forcefully drew him to her and began stroking his hair.
“Hey. Hey just breathe. That’s your only job right now, okay?” she whispered quietly and slowly, after what seemed like an eternity, Inuyasha’s shuddering breaths evened out…
And he sagged against her. His body officially giving out as he went limp in her arms. So, she held him to her . Reached up to brush his damp bangs away from his face then began stroking his cheek. Four days without sleeping. Being constantly on high alert. Dealing with near constant adrenaline and anxiety. It was a curse that he’d been so exhausted and it was a blessing his body finally accepted that rest wasn’t an option. It took some doing but she did manage to get his dead weight onto the futon. Even managed to lay down next to him in such a way that she could draw his still twitching form against her. His head lay rested atop her stomach and one arm draped across her waist.
“I love you,” Kagome whispered affectionately before cringing when Inuyasha let out a tired groan in his dead sleep. True, there was a risk involved since Inuyasha had, up until now, traditionally blacked out when his demon form took over but given that his aura wasn’t fluctuating Kagome hoped for the best.
And worried about the worst. It was extremely disconcerting that a monk familiar with them would just randomly appear out of nowhere and side with them after Inuyasha murdered the male population of a hostile village. It straight didn’t make-
“..sense. Why are ye truly here?” Kaede huffed and the monk gave her a patient yet kind look.
“Have they ever mentioned me? I doubt so,” the monk offered with a soft chuckle, “I would venture to say our meeting was not memorable. What has been memorable, however, is the legend inspired by that boy and his friends. It seems wherever you go someone has encountered them. Been saved by them. Witnessed their heroics. Humans. Demons. There was no discrimination on their part. Even I have been influenced. Changed my approach. Which is why-“
The monk sighed heavily and shook his head.
“Which is why I’m here. Perhaps the carnage was excessive but given the information I was given, it had been their intention to come here and attack this village,” the monk continued, “The survivors believed the monk was killed. I am glad he survived.”
That…did not answer Kaede’s question and got her heckles up.
“So it does not bother ye that-“
“Naturally it bothers me but demons live by a different set of rules. I acknowledge this as I’m sure you do as well. There was a threat to his family. He took measures to ensure their continued safety,” the monk hummed wearily, “Do I agree with how said threat was handled? No. The loss of human life is always tragic. However, that boy showed discernment. He spared the women and children. The elderly. He only punished those who plotted against him. He did not blindly kill. There was logic behind his decision.”
Again, not truly answering her question.
“Let me be clear. Ye-“
“I cannot condemn someone for protecting others. They posed a threat. He reacted accordingly,” the monk interrupted with another heavy sigh, “As perturbed as I am, his actions make all the sense in the world. I asked the miko once why someone would choose to stay with a demon. It took some time to realize it was because demons are not so different from ourselves. They love those they call family and are willing to endure unimaginable pain to protect them. That level of devotion is hard to ignore.”
Furrowing her brow, Kaede opened her mouth to clarify before the monk expanded on his statement.
“I believe I encountered his brother…or relative. There was a young child who had been taken. Rin, I believe was her name. He came for her. She followed,” the monk hummed as he made a strange face, “What we had done should have killed him and yet he persisted for her sake. Spared us for her sake. And now she is here. Living in this village under this demon’s protection. As is the miko, the monk and the slayer. All of whom are naturally opposed to demons. Whose sole purpose in life is to kill beings such as him. Yet they have stayed by his side these many years. If they trust him, I will defer to their judgment.”
Kaede set her jaw and nodded once.
“If others come, humans, what will ye do?”
“My intervention on that front I imagine will not be necessary. I’m certain you feel a familiar presence nearby. The demon who protects the one known as Rin has been watching from a distance,” the monk pointed out as he raised a single brow, “But I will remain to prevent anything demonic that may fall beneath his notice. And to reason with other monks who may have been conscripted.”
“What payment are-“
“The only thing I ask in return is the opportunity to observe. To truly understand,” the monk offered as he held up one hand, “There is much evil in this world. Much division. I would like to see what a mixed world could be.”
“The villagers are protective of him. His friends are protective of him. Now more than ever. They will not hesitate to defend if called upon,” Kaede warned ominously and the monk nodded once.
“Understood.”
As the tense and somewhat unbelievable discussion continued, the sun began to dip beneath the horizon and with a shuddering gasp, Inuyasha’s eyes fluttered open. The relief that accompanied his monthly transformation bringing tears to his eyes. True, his stomach still churned, his heart continued to pound out of control and breathing was still hard but the static that had filled his mind had mercifully subsided. Pushing himself up, Inuyasha massaged the base of his neck and tried to slow his body down.
“Your eyes are gold,” Kagome hummed sympathetically as she reached up to cup his cheek, “You feeling better though?”
A faint nod before Inuyasha’s head lolled and a miserable groan bubbled over his chapped lips.
”M’tired.”
“Okay. So, come back here and lay down,” Kagome laughed softly as she sat up and tried to force him back onto her chest.
“N-n-never sleep on h-human night,” Inuyasha mumbled even as he complied with her call and settled down, “M-maybe this can be the e-exception though. M’so tired.”
It didn’t take long - at all - for Inuyasha to pass out once again. While Kagome pet his hair and kissed his sweaty temple, her thoughts drifted towards all those times these past few days when he’d rushed out and come back looking more defeated each time. More worn out. Wouldn’t eat. Wouldn’t drink. Wouldn’t sleep. Somehow in a few days he’d thinned out to such a degree he felt smaller in her arms. Being a ‘full’ demon was slowly but surely killing him.
The question then became how to snap him out of his panic mode. It was clear the very real threat to his found family was the reason his body was doing what it was doing. His own injuries hadn’t been severe. Only Miroku had been near fatally injury. But when that sword unexpectedly pierced the monk’s stomach, oh, Inuyasha mentally snapped.
“No,” came a groggy mumble as Inuyasha jerked and shifted, “No.”
“You’re okay. Everybody’s safe,” Kagome shushed his sleeping form but whatever nightmare he was having didn’t have any intentions of leaving. His breath started catching. A random tear slid down his cheek. And then with a startled gasp he sat bolt upright. His golden eyes wide and dilated and panicked.
“Just a dream,” Kagome promised as she too sat up and wilting in relief, Inuyasha ran one hand aggressively over his face.
“Wasn’t a dream. Just...just the whole stupid...shit,” he groaned miserably before burying his face in his hands, “Something is there. Its there and it probably even isn’t. I fucking hate this.”
Kagome sighed and nodded with her arms outstretched.
“I know you do. I know. Come here.”
“No. I f-feel so gross,” he added with a whine as one hand absently reached back to feel his putrid hair - his eyes still clenched closed, “Need a bath but I...I’ll need help.”
Cringing subtly at Inuyasha apparently reverting back to an almost child like dependency in the moment, Kagome sighed and nodded.
“We can go. I’ll protect you,” Kagome offered quietly, “No one is going to be up this late anyway.”
Breathing heavily, Inuyasha seemed to be remembering that no one was supposed to see him and further, that there was some giant unseen threat.
“Don’t we got water here?” Inuyasha finally mumbled and Kagome nodded.
“Why don’t you take your clothes off and I’ll wash you, okay?” his wife offered and without another word, Inuyasha began doing just that. Honestly, it shouldn’t have been surprising to see the light purple yet pronounced jagged lines tracing his hips. Or the way that lines of a similar vein covered his shoulder around the sockets. Inuyasha paused and glanced down at his altered body in defeat.
“Are they bad?” he asked wearily - glancing up at his wife and awkwardly pulling his pants higher up.
“No. No. They’re nice. Actually” Kagome admitted with a faint blush, “But they’ve never been there before.”
Blushing himself, Inuyasha nodded faintly before resuming his task.
“I…I’m stuck like this, huh?” he asked with a depressed sigh, “It’s not going away.”
“Stay positive. I’m sure you’ll be back to your normal self in no time,” Kagome hummed encouragingly as she got up and went to their water pitchers, “I think you’ll feel better once we get all the throw up out of your hair.”
It took longer than she expected to get all the microscopic chunks and debris out of his thick mane. But by the time dawn rolled around, Inuyasha was definitely much cleaner and breathing easier for the first time in days.
“I guess we’ll see, huh?” he hummed as he pulled his wife into his lap and rested his chin atop her head, “You gotta run If I…well, ya know, if I’m not there. Promise me you’ll run.”
“You know me better than that,” Kagome admitted guilty and Inuyasha nodded before burying his nose in her hair.
“Just don’t let me hurt you then,” he demanded shakily, “You have my permission to purify the ever loving shit outta me. Won’t kill me or nothing. It’s happened before. Just turns me human and after this, I really don’t give a fuck if that’s how I end up.”
“If it comes down to it, I’ll keep that in mind,” Kagome sighed as she leaned back into his warmth and they watched the sun rise above the horizon.
While there were certain signs that Inuyasha’s youkai refused to recede entirely, for the first time in what seemed like forever, Inuyasha could breathe. The seemingly permanent marks on his skin might be forever on his skin but his eyes remained their normal color and the other miserable side effects were much more subdued. Over the next few months, slowly but surely he got used to things being louder. Was able to cope with smelling more and eating the things that now smelled wrong. It wasn’t so bad that everything was more sensitive and it had actually been a blessing in some ways. Kagome’s attempts to soothe him were effortlessly more successful for the simple reason that her feather light touches felt much more firm than they were. Definitely made for some interesting yet pleasant scenarios too. His body adjusted to the heightened levels of adrenaline in his veins and it was a massive relief to all involved when his sleep schedule finally regulated. More than anything, InuYasha had gained a newfound appreciation and awareness for how deeply he loved his friends and his wife. Enough so that his body literally pulled out the big guns to make sure they weren’t harmed and to save the one who had been.
But, more importantly, Inuyasha realized how much his found family loved him in return. Not just anyone would change their whole routine and lives just to accommodate their new friends heightened sense of paranoia. Even the twins got in the habit of telling their favorite uncle - no offense to Kohaku - where they were going and didn’t complain when he shadowed them. Everyone tried their best to stay in his line of vision when Inuyasha was in one of his panicked ‘something is there’ episodes. Meals were shared routinely whereas usually that had been spent with their respective partners or, in Kaede’s case, with a small odd child. Exorcisms were limited to a quarter days run distance - which was actually relatively far for an amped up half-demon coasting on naturally produced steroids. All in all, with his friends adapting and making his new reality less miserable, Inuyasha couldn’t help but feel grateful.
Especially because with his enhanced abilities - even with the very annoying at times painful side effects - he could protect the people who mattered the most. Even better than he could before.
And they randomly got some new allies out of this. Creepy, old and somewhat anxiety inducing allies but, during their visits and subsequent random encounters, they actually were useful a few times over the past year so that was good, right?
Maybe, just maybe, turning mostly demon wasn’t the worst thing ever.
Dedicated to my wonderful cat (Mr. Darcy) who died at the age of 14 today. (7.2.22)
hello! i was wondering if anyone had inukag full demon inuyasha fanfic recs? (i'm not really looking for smut, tho if there's some in there i won't complain lol)
I have a question for everyone! Are full-youkai Inuyasha’s PUPILS blue/turquoise, or do his *irises* shrink into narrow slits and turn blue?
Because I had always just thought the red bled over his golden irises and the blue was his pupils, until I read a fic that said otherwise, and then I started Googling pictures, and THEN I read the description on the Inuyasha fandom wiki (that says his irises turn blue with white pupils, and yeah, the anime images on Google kinda maybe have white pupils inside the blue?) and so...
...have I been wrong ALL THIS TIME?! LOL. In my defense, so have a hell of a lot of other people! Because I *always* see reference to the blue pupils. But I also know the fandom wiki is just like...written/edited by whoever? So I guess my REAL question is, does it say in the *official* character description, by Rumiko Takahashi? Who out there has the real character sheet by Takahashi? Help! LOL
