1942 The Francis Parkman school at 51st and Wells in Chicago taught generations of young Chicagoans from 1911 until closing its doors in 2014, though the building still stands. The Fuller Park neighborhood that young Josephine knew is now a vastly different place, the Dan Ryan expressway which now adjoins the school property would not begin construction until the late 1950s, it's construction permanently divided and altered many of the city's neighborhoods. According to US census data, Josephine was seven years old in 1942 and had three older sisters at home, fifteen-year-old Anna, thirteen-year-old Patsy, and 11-year-old Carmela.
