Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with Abi-Gaye Smythe (@iamtonistark). She is an extraordinary young woman who reached out to me some time ago via social media. What is exceptional about 26-year-old Abi-Gaye is that even though she is affected by a rare heart disease known as Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD), she is positive with an unmatched burst of energy, articulate and bright. She has used her circumstance to start the I HAVE A HEART (@i2haveaheart) foundation which aims to promote, educate and advocate for the need for heart disease awareness in Jamaica. Through her story, I’ve been touched, and I encourage the private sector to engage Abi-Gaye through her foundation.
