Hi! I’m new to kpop in general and SHINee specifically. I’m not sure how to phrase this, but I guess I wanted to ask you how to really get into SHINee when so much of their past makes me so sad? Like I feel like I have to get to know them as OT5 but seeing footage of Jonghyun with them just makes me feel very sad for what’s going to come. Does that make sense? Sorry if this is a bit of a mess, I’m still trying to sort out what I’m thinking. Thanks for your wonderful blog!! It’s really made me love all the members.

Hi! thanks so much for the message and welcome to the fandom 💕 I totally understand where you are coming from. I can only answer this from my personal standpoint and experience having been a shawol for the past 10 years, so please don’t feel you have to do anything that isn’t right for you. I got into SHINee through a friend showing me a couple of their MV’s and then after watching Hello Baby they won my heart entirely. Since then It’s been a journey full of top tier entertainment love, laughter and, of course, immense sadness in 2017. I was totally heartbroken. We could easily have forgiven the SHINee members if they had withdrawn from everything and hidden themselves away to heal. But they didn’t, they chose to walk with us through their immense grief and pain and I will be eternally grateful for that as personally it has been a very healing process for me. They include Jonghyun in everything they do whether it’s subtle or obvious as he is so naturally a part of them. SHINee will always be five, they are family and always will be. Jonghyun blessed us with so much amazing talent, his voice, his songwriting, the way he thought about and was vocal on social issues, his sense of humour and numerous other wonderful things and just his big gentle soft heart 💕. To my mind it’s impossible to have SHINee without Jonghyun because he is  integral to their journey and all that they have become and continue to be. You would miss out on all those beautiful years of growth, excitement, love and fun and top tier talent. I for one always want to celebrate his life and all that he achieved and continues to achieve and I’m so grateful to the SHINee members for making this easier as he always feels with them and us on the journey. This doesn’t mean I don’t feel sad anymore, because I do. But the joy of all Jonghyun and SHINee have given us is now what I choose to focus on 💕. I hope this helps in some way as you discover more about them. I can honestly say through all the years of highs and lows I have never regretted this journey as SHINee brings me so much happiness and I’m so indebted to them 🥰. Amazing Saturday has been running since 2018 with a lot of SHINee content, but there is so much great content out there if you search for SHINee variety shows. This is getting really long (sorry) so I ought to stop but these are just my thoughts and I really hope this helps a little in deciding what you want to do 💕. Everyone is different and I understand how hard this must be being new to the fandom and finding your way.
