Rebecca Lewis is a reporter who has seen the screener. She always posts emojis about episodes and it's always fun to guess what they're about.
This is for 8x12.
So, I'm thinking:
Chess
Buck (which makes me go 👀👀👀👀. FaceTime call perhaps? Yes I know Buck and the 118 respond to a call, but I'm choosing to believe this is about Eddie. LOL!)
Someone eating a salad???
Eddie selling the car
Texas star? Police?
Something to do with Chris? He is too old to go off a slide though. 🤔
Tonight! We bring you a little chat with @javistg. Very exciting stuff! Read on, and always reblog!
What's your fandom story… what brought you here?
My first contact with THG was through the movies. My husband practically had to drag me to watch the first one! After watching CF I was completely hooked, so I downloaded MJ.
Eventually I read all three books and, like many others, I wasn't satisfied with the ending. I wanted to know more about Katniss, Peeta and their world. That's when I went online. After some research I found fan fiction. The rest, as they say, is history.
That sounds almost identical to my story! So did you start writing right away or were you a reader first?
I was a reader for a while. I posted the first chapter of Gale's Window six months after I discovered fan fiction.
What made you decide to write it?
I just wanted Gale to see Everlark without any makeup or cameras. I wanted him to come to terms with the fact that Everlark was real. I didn't set out to write a complete multi chapter fic, but that's just something that happened along the way :)
How much more have you written since then?
Well, I've written a few drabbles and oneshots, and I'm currently working on my WIP One Victor.
Awesome! I read this drunk confession story, called Hungover, during our interview. I love drunk Everlark confession, even if it's an angry confession!
It's a cute one shot. It's the first thing I ever wrote. And there's a part 2 coming soon. Let me know what you think. 😉
Oh good! I just left you a comment asking for part two. And you totally gave me a ❤️attack with ‘Catnip’.
Lol, Yeah, I was a bit sneaky there 😉 Part 2 is Peeta's POV. I'm including the texts between him and Gale and of course "the date"!
Yay!!
When can we expect this to be posted?
Probably next week. I already have most of it, just have to organize it a bit.
Let’s talk about One Victor... Tell everyone it’s about.
One Victor is a canon divergent fic in which Prim isn't reaped, but Peeta is.
Katniss doesn't volunteer to go into the arena. Instead, she gets to stay in D12 and watch Peeta on TV.
That's all I've posted so far, but rest assured, Peeta will be crowned victor, and there will be some Everlark interactions along the way.
Oh man! Can you say who the female tribute is?
Yeah, I invented a new character, Tessa Monroe.
Tessa was a 15-year old girl from the Seam. She was funny and sweet. She held Peeta's hand during the tribute parade and twirled on stage during Caesar's interview. Clove killed her during the bloodbath. I was really sad to see her go.
Aw! Poor Tessa. :( Can I ask how you plan to get Everlark together or is that divulging too much information? Is Gale in the picture?
Well, I don't want to spoil anything,
Spoil me! Spoil me!
😉 I'll tell you this: Gale isn't in the picture. He wanted to be, but he's about to realize he doesn't have a shot.
I guess I'll have to wait for postings.
So a month or so ago you hosted a fic exchange. How many of those have you coordinated and do you feel like you get a good response from them?
Oh, that was an awesome experience! I was honestly blown away by the response I got. I'd never done anything like it before. When I first came up with the idea I thought I'd get a couple of prompts and maybe a couple of fics. By the end if the exchange we had over 60 prompts and more than 30 fics! So I'm definitely pleased with the way things turned out. I'm actually thinking about hosting another one in fall.
Yes! I was thinking about asking you to! 😉
I'm glad you like the idea. 😊
Love it! Tell me your favorite THG character and why, other than Everlark.
My favorite THG character, other than Everlark... that's a tough one.. I guess that would be Finnick. I think he's a beautiful person. He's loyal, passionate and faithful. I think he suffered a lot, but he still finds a way to help others. I love how he connects with Katniss and Peeta throughout the story. His death breaks me every. Single. Time. And still, I haven't written a single scene with him in it.
Really? Why do you think that is?
I don't know, honestly I hadn't thought about it until now! Lol It's probably because most of the things I've written so far are canon compliant post MJ. No Finnick there. He will be on One Victor, though. I already know what his role there will be.
That would certainly be why!
Oh, wait! Sleight of Hand, he's there, trying to save Peeta!
So do you prefer to write canon over AU, or do you have a preference?
I definitely prefer canon. I've written a couple of AU's but I always feel more comfortable with canon.
What is your favorite thing about the Everlark fandom?
First of all, the amount of talent in this fandom amazes me.
I love that people are so generous with their time and that they're really welcoming. I know some people have had bad experiences, but I've felt nothing but love and support ever since I joined. Back when I was writing Gale's Window, I kept expecting angry comments or negative reviews, but I've gotten tons of love instead.
It is a very talented fandom and I think that's one of the things that can intimidate new writers. What would you say to someone considering writing their very first story?
I don't want to sound like a Nike commercial but: Just do it! Lol
Seriously, though. I'd tell them to close their eyes and write whatever's in their mind. And share it.
There's nothing to lose. Even if you get bad reviews, don't see them as a set back, look at them as a learning experience.
I'd also tell them to plan, plot and design their story before they get started.
It's easy to get lost when you don't know where you want your story take you. An outlined story is easier to tackle.
True advice! Now for some personal questions - Life isn't perfect for anyone. Have you ever channelled a life experience into your writing? Whether it be HG or something else?
Yes, I have. Both of my modern day AU's deal with personal experiences.
In "Hungover" Katniss makes a fool of herself and confronts Peeta after drinking too much at her company's office party. The story doesn't reflect my experience exactly, but I did get really drunk once and... well you get the picture.
"Missing You" follows a week in Katniss's life while Peeta is away. My husband travels a LOT for work, so this is something I deal with constantly.
I always wonder which pieces of a story belong to the authors!
Which THG character do you relate to the most?
It's hard to choose just one! In many ways I'm a lot like Peeta. As a kid I would constantly lie to stay out of trouble. And, although I'm usually easy-going, diplomatic and level headed, I can be quite scary when I get angry.
But there are a few parallels between Katniss's life and mine that really draw me to her. For instance, I was 11 when my dad moved to the US. I stayed in Mexico with my mom. My dad didn't die or disappear but the sense of loss and abandonment I felt was pretty strong. Later, when I was 13, my mom remarried and moved to Switzerland. Once again I was being left behind. So, even though I feel closer to Peeta I share some life experiences with Katniss.
Give me an accomplishment or two in your life that you're proud of.
I don't have any kids of my own, but I have three nieces and one nephew and I'm very proud the relationship I've built with them, especially because we live on different continents and we don't get to spend a lot of time together.
Also, getting simultaneous degrees in business and English Lit is something I'm really proud of, especially because most people in my family didn't think I'd be able to do it.
I love defying people’s expectations! Good for you! Do you have any fandom goals? If so, what are they?
There's no big plan or agenda. I love being able to share my stories with the fandom, and I always enjoy reading the stories other people are creating. I loved organizing the Everlark Fic Exchange, and I'll definitely host another one soon! Other than that, I don't have any big plans.
Any last words for the readers?
Thank you! For the love you show me every day. For those who follow One Victor: thanks for your patience, and I love your conspiracy theories! Don't worry, Peeta's almost home :)
This was so much fun! Thank you so much for doing this :) I had a blast!
You’re so welcome! Check out @javistg‘s fics and profiles on AO3 and FFnet. Thanks for reading and supporting this blog!
Possibly the hardest thing for me in writing a fantasy season of Glee is finding stuff for Sam to do. This evening I found stuff, for a couple of episodes at least. Phew.
I'm sure my fellow whovians have seen those graphics floating around either tumblr, facebook or whatever social media site you enjoy. You know those pictures, the ones that say 'you parents occupation is your timelord name, the thing to your left is your sonic item, etc. My friends and I love them and one of them encouraged me to expand on my 'Timelord' and I took that advice. I don't want to post this as a fanfiction, since it was just me being silly so I'll post it here I think.. maybe people will like it, maybe they won't but I had fun with it when I did write up this tiny little thing.
------------------------------------------------
"What the hell just happened?!?" Glancing wildly around I notice the smoking console... "I freaking crashed the TARDIS AGAIN?!?!"
I clamber over to the console, flicking switches and swiping away smoke from my face. My friends were never going to let me hear the end of this, it's not that I was terrible at flying, I just really, really sucked at landing.
"Shit, Shit, Shit." I had to get out of the TARDIS and let him cool down before I tried making him fly again, the console was sparking angrily and me. "YOU KNOW, HAD YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO LAND YOU PROPERLY THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN!"
The engines whirred grumpily and I huffed, "Fine, I'm going out to see where you took us."
Opening the TARDIS doors sends me pitching forward as I dangle from the door frame, clutching frantically at the wood. GREAT, I'm stuck on the freaking Eiffel tower of all places. OF COURSE! Not just any place, but on THE SIDE. I can see the tourist balcony area just below me. I glance down to see if anyone noticed my landing and they appear oblivious, humans texting and taking selfies with their phones. Taking a deep breath and checking my pocket for the TARDIS key, don't need to get it stranded, sure of it's location I drop down to the balcony, only to sprawl over the floor.
The teens whip around at the commotion and stare wide eyed at me, their parents snapping from their tourist daze as well. "Nothing to see here folks." Brushing my clothes of, I notice they're rather odd on my frame... SHIT SHIT SHIT, I went male this time... NO NONONO I still had that dress on and oh god!
"Uhhhhhh...." I turn and bolt back to the elevators, shoving my way on with a grin. I pretend obliviousness to the stares I'm getting and when we reach the bottom I pull out my Sonic Pen and Psychic paper, moving along to the nearest reflective surface to take in my new look. Hmmm still short, red hair (GINGER! SCORE! The Doc is going to be so freaking Jealous when he sees this.), I'm rather skinny this time around as well, too skinny.. I'm as scrawny as a chicken wing for christ sake. How am I suppose to instill fear into the heart of evil looking like this?
I glance around the grounds and find a boy about my size... he's carrying a backpack and I rush over to him, pulling him with me until I reach a secluded area. "I need your clothes man."
"What?"
"I'm in a bloody dress dude, got any extra clothes?"
He stares at me, wide eyed and then nods, pulling his backpack forward and digging around.
"OH JUST GIMME!" I snarl and wrench the pack away, rooting around it myself pulling out clothes before stripping in the alley to change.
"Uuuhhh. Do you have some sort of mental problem?"
"What?" I turn, t-shirt pulled half over my body, "Oh, no. Not that I'm aware of anyway."
"um, okay... Who are you exactly?"
"Oh! I'm The Mechanic." I respond with a shrug.
"The mechanic of what?"
"Everything." I glance down at my new clothes, my feet still bare.
"You can't be a Mechanic of everything."
"Who says I can't? Is there some sort of law against it?"
"Well, no..."
"EXACTLY!" I rummage through my old coat and find my key, using it to call the TARDIS too me I walk over and pat the door. Circling it and glancing for damages, "Sorry sweetheart, I shouldn't have snapped at you, not your fault I'm clumsy. Forgive me."
The ship whirred happily and I smiled, I may have copied the doctors design but I just couldn't help myself. I was a big fan. Hearing a loud thump I turn and sigh heavily. The boy had fainted, shoot, I can't just leave him there either. With a shrug I open the Tardis doors and drag him inside, he may have hit his head once or twice but I'm sure he'll be fine. The console room was in excellent condition though it looks different from before.. I wasn't sure if I liked that or not.. Well nothing to do but wait for my new friend to wake up. With that in mind I sit in chair and kick my legs up onto the console, thinking about how I'm going to have to replace my wardrobe AGAIN.
