It's Friday, y'all! We made it through another week. . . And I don't know what to say...but I'll try. This week was full of so much emotion and I couldn't find it in me to do much and then realized today is officially the year anniversary of when school was shut down in Ohio. The next day, my son had surgery to get tubes put in both ears to help prevent more ear infections. After that day, unnecessary surgeries were canceled. For my family, that surgery was necessary as it kept us from going to the Dr at least every other week during quarantine. I really cannot empathize how thankful I am that we were literally just in the nick of time enough. . . . I'm not sure how we made it through the past year and keep going. But we do. Sewing has definitely been a lifesaver...and cheaper than therapy. Well, maybe lol. It definitely helps calm my anxiety. . . When @sincerelyjenpatterns came out with the #funbobby #backpack in December, the open front seemed intriguing and I looked up at a painting I did of the beach where I got married and thought maybe I could translate it with #corkfabric so I played with ideas for awhile. And here it finally is in all its glory. It's not perfect (the grass hides some errors) but it's a reminder of happier times and that I can make whatever I want lol. I'm looking forward to taking it with me on new adventures and making new memories with my kids. Hopefully one day it'll sit in the sand on that #beach! . . . Day 159: The Fun Bobby Syndrome

Please refer to my last post or episode 10 of season 2 of the 90′s sitcom “Friends.” You’ve heard of it? No? You see, it was a situation comedy television show about a group of six friends, some of them also family members, who live in a city and have troubles. Often they drink coffee. 

If you don’t know the episode, “Fun Bobby” is a fella Monica dates for a hot minute. In the opening scene, Bobby leaves the girls’ apartment and Rachel remarks that they went through 6 bottles of wine. The gang compares notes and their glasses only add up to 2 bottles, leaving them to suspect that Fun Bobby might be “fun for a reason.” Monica confronts him about it later and he agrees to try going sober, which results in what Chandler calls “Ridiculously Dull Bobby.” 

I’ve been feeling a little boring lately. Is that coming across? No? Well, you see, some people (namely: most, more relatedly namely: me) use alcohol or other delights to open themselves up in social situations, as it’s well documented that alcohol and other delights lower your Inhibition. Inhibition is the invisible adhesive of self-consciousness that holds your lips together, keeps your butt attached to your seat and glues your eyes to floor while you shuffle dance. It’s easy to forget that I’m a shy person when my Inhibition is continually being dissolved. It’s hard to feel boring when I’m used to feeling fun. 

I smoked over the weekend. I was at a festival and there was a party full of lovely, kind comedy folk that I have a ton in common with and with whom conversation should be totally easy. But I felt myself pulling inward, because many of them were still technically strangers, and I just wanted to relax. I took one hit. I was just going to get “a little high.” Any smoker knows that dangerous phrase. There’s never getting just a little high. And because of my newly earned low-low tolerance, one hit was all it took.

But did this turn me gregarious and loquacious, you ask? No! My shuffle dance did turn into an all out Kid ‘n Play House Party dance off, but my eyes were still glued to the floor. Because I can’t follow a conversation when I’m that blazed. And, more often than not, weed makes me want to be alone even more. But I did feel Fun. 

I don’t know what to do with this information or feeling. So I’ll stop boring you in this definitively TLDR post. I’ll keep trying to figure it out and report back.
