**Heart Check** Pinterest boards and instagram are cute, but they don’t reflect real life homesteads or century farms. There, We said it. We are officially the least influnecery influencers on instagram. Hey, somebody has to be the villain and 🤷🏻‍♀️ we don’t mind. Don’t worry about what it LOOKS like. Worry about what it WORKS like. Recently there has been an influx of new homesteaders and the questions they ask most frequently are: 1.) Where do I start and 2) How on earth do you afford to do it and keep expanding? The answer is simple- delete Pinterest, log off instagram, and roll up your sleeves. This isn’t an aesthetic it’s hard work. If you aren’t into hard work- you probably should pick another fad. The heart of homesteading is and has ALWAYS been- using what you have, improvising what you lack, and purchasing ONLY what you absolutely must. If you are building a farm look alike for a wedding venue- yes you should worry with aesthetic, but that isn’t a working farm that’s a photo prop.
