The next morning Tzedef woke to sunlight streaming through the window next to the spinning wheel and across his face, and he grumbled softly as he threw his legs over the edge of the bed and sat up.

Sorecco was still asleep, sprawled out across his bed and snoring softly, but Chase was nowhere to be seen until Tzedef stood up and stretched, then wandered out from behind the screen.

She was sitting at the small table, a tiny book stuffed full of paper scraps in front of her, with a stick of wrapped charcoal in her hand.

“Just Tzedef is fine,” he replied, and stood as well, following the young man across the room to the right of the back door, where a small stove stood and a sink and several cupboards were built into the wall. “And no. I was planning on having a bite at whatever inn I ended up at, but, well…”

“Bollocks,” The half-orc snarled, then froze, his eyes widening at the feel of cold steel under his chin, resting gently against his throat.

“Friend.” Tzedef said, with a patience he didn’t feel in the slightest, “I suggest you give this up as a lost cause. You’ll not be getting your coin back this afternoon.”

Tzedef paused, blinking at the younger man’s tirade.

“I… Apologize?” He tried, “It was not my intent to leave you in distress. I was sure that Miss Chase would be fine, and I intended to find her assailant before the trail grew too cold.”

Lemme tell you guys about something my friends and I do, it's super cute! We're all in high school, and most of us eat cafeteria food, but every Friday, we each bring something homemade for the table and share all our food and feel proud and stuff. Or it can be store-bought snack food, we aren't picky. If any of you guys want to spruce up your Fridays, this is a good way to make it more exciting, and become closer friends with your lunch buddies!
