I haven’t talked about my writing on this platform in a long time. I haven’t talked at all about writing Funger fic on this platform.

A dear friend said I managed to write Daan almost like it were out of the game, which I appreciate greatly. I think I am able to best do his “outer” personality. I guess because I am also very dry and sarcastic.

But I think the resentment in chapter 4 was my best attempt at an inner world.

Even being happy for another person’s success, it kind of creeps in sometimes.

Thinking about Karin's whole situation and the circumstances that might have lead to her forming her personality and it's making me hate that "all that trauma just made this character kind," narrative.

In my mind, Daan has probably convinced himself if he just did enough and loved his parents enough they would eventually pick him over the Sylvian cult. Which of course they didn’t, hence the apathy we see in game.

He probably got some feeling back with Elise but then he lost her and then that apathy came back tenfold.

Compared to Karin who probably had little love with her parents considering she was raised by Dalia, and even her I headcanon she attempted to run away several times.

And while she might not be warm and fuzzy, she is definitely not apathetic. She protested, she fights for people she will never know.

Just an interesting contrast. Compels me.

Karin is a turian journalist who is highly critical of the Hierarchy. Daan is an Alliance medic who's apathetic to the whole thing, especially after word of his wife's death. Even though neither of them approve of the war, they still criticize the other group.

"Do all humans fool around with technology they don't understand?"

"I don't know, is the turian answer to everything to shoot it?"

After a while when tension becomes unbearable, Karin suggests they settle it with sparring, as turians do.

"I'm not fighting you. It's ungentlemanly."

"I don't adhere to whatever human standards you're referring to. Turians settle differences in the ring."

"So your soldiers risk injury before a mission?"

"It's supervised. And we have self-control, something I think you lack."

He's chafing by the end.

Fuck it, here's my stance on Fear and Hunger 2: Termina characters.

And here's my shipping preferences but based on Karin because, as established, she's the only one I care about.

Karin gets treated like an American Republican in fanart but she’s the closest thing to punk in this game.
