single post of the adam sandle rpg maker poster because the funger fandom needs to eat today
Saw your post on bsky asking for elise von dutch thoughts, hope you don't mind this!!
if we're talking purely canon information on how voluntary she was in the whole Sulfur Cult thing, i honestly don't know if there is any? i highly doubt it, i think there's only things that you can extract theories from, i suppose.
for example, ive seen other people point out that Stitches' whole thing of sewing together abominations is a reminiscent of creating life, and at its heart it IS technically creation, and you could argue that's similar to sylvian and her being a creator god and a god of birth. Thus, she Maybeee had some interest in the occult, maybe even independently of what daan might've told her about sylvian?
Or literally not at all. again, that's pure speculation LOL. I personally greatly prefer interpretations where she was at least Somewhat of a willing participant in the sulfur cult thing myself, though. i just find it way more cool and interesting, and i think it gives her more identity as a character! Like maybe she Did have a secret dark side like eihner did, and maybe she even started to doubt going through with the ritual at some point, but it was too late.
That's just me though!! again hope you don't mind this :D
i don’t mind at all i’ve been dying to talk to someone about this!!!!
i def agree that stitches’ “creations” could be some sylvian influence (they’re kind of reminiscent of Marriages, too), and that maybe she got that from whatever daan taught to eihner. whether that means she was just as interested in the old gods as he was, let alone the sulfur cult…….. idk!!!
so much of my understanding of funger lore comes from worm girl’s analysis (tumblr is being stupid about letting me add a link to her youtube so i’ll paste it below), and at some point she said she believes that the baron and elise both lured daan in intentionally because they somehow needed him for the ritual. this is extremely intriguing to me but i really don’t have any idea where it comes from in canon, though worm girl always knows what she’s talking about so i’m inclined to believe it’s backed up by the text somehow.
either way it’s insanely tragic for daan. either the only person who ever loved him was unknowingly used for this horrifying ritual, or he was lied to and manipulated and everything he felt for either of them was false all along and he really has never been loved in his entire life. christ. i do think the latter is more interesting for elise as a character, GOD i want to know so much more about her. what did daan love about her? what drove her to be interested in this side of the occult and how did she hide it from daan???? i need to know!!!
anyway ty for indulging me. and everyone who likes funger (and everyone who doesn’t) should watch worm girl’s videos
I'm Worm Girl! I like indie horror and role-playing games, and I talk about them and play them.
i get whiplash seeing funger content so readily available on instagram or even here cause like not too long ago we were in the trenches and now look at this place!!! big leagues babey :]
Enkivaldr Fear and Hunger just feels like this meme
Has anyone else been keeping up with the meltdown of the old Fear and Hunger wiki or is it just me?
Finally, some peace and quiet for the girl. She deserves the world and all of the naps in the sun she can get.
