'The Rookie' isn't an official title; Hunter isn't an actual mercenary with a title, etc., he just helps around. He's tiny so he can get into places the Engineer can't. Hunter's not as smart as him, but he can keep himself alive.

Hunter and Engie are related, cousins removed a few times and Hunter was adopted by him because he ran off from home (town up in the Smokey mountains.). At first, Hunter was pretty skittish around the mercs, but now he's just reserved. He doesn't relate to them much because his abnormal upbringing, but he gets on with them. He can hold conversations, play cards, etc. He finds his job entertaining enough, fixing things Engie can't reach or is too busy to. It's common for him to chew off the nail of his ring finger, usually the left, but no one pays it too much mind.

Oh and he's trans bc of course he is :)
