So my sister and her two toddlers are here for a visit, and I watched my adorable niece and nephew most of the afternoon. Nephew kept asking for "robots"--that is, to watch a movie with robots in it. I turned on Wall-E (which he had enjoyed when he last watched it)--but he insisted "no, Wall-E, robots!" I honestly didn't know what he meant (and then he got interested in the movie and didn't protest further).
Later in the after afternoon, he asked again for "robots" most insistently, and my sister and I puzzled over this for a short while. Wall-E is the only robots movie he had seen, to our knowledge. Then it crossed my mind that I had been watching a movie when Sister & Co. arrived at the house last night, a movie with a kind of robot in it, and Nephew had seen a few minutes of that film.
It was Pacific Rim.
My not-yet-three-year-old nephew wanted to watch Pacific Rim.
In disbelief, we turned it back on. Nephew watched the Hong Kong Kaiju vs. Jaeger fight with rapt attention. Then he went on his own Kaiju rampage through the living room, stomping around and overturning the toddler-sized furniture (which didn't even do that much damage, as the room already looked like a tornado had paid a visit). XD We eventually turned the movie off, but this event amused me to no end through the rest of the evening!
And @kanerallels, since your posts inspired me to watch Pacific Rim in the first place, I thought you might get a kick out of this!
