Fur Auction

My life has been busy but still remaining to do my yearly things.  That said I’ll be attending the NJ Fur Auction tomorrow.  If you don’t know much on what happens, I usually go there every year and buy up craft grade pelts with my focus on the color phase animals since those go for cheap and people love those as wallhangers.

I should be back with a decent amount of fur and will list them up here for people to purchase!  These pelts will be air dried and therefore will need to be tanned.  I’ve been lucky over the years with getting anything from ranch foxes/minks, red/blonde/black coyotes to even whitemarked foxes.  That said be on the look out tomorrow and for my mutuals if you are looking for anything cool shoot me a message and I’ll keep an eye out!

Is fur at auction really this cheap?

My haul from the NJ Fur Auction!  Unfortunately I did have a difficult time with bidding this year as a lot of the decent furs went up in prices and there wasn’t a lot of color phase animals.  I missed out on an additional red coyote and a “fisher” raccoon but otherwise I think this is a decent run!

As with the auction, I do have a window of time where these pelts are up for grabs!  All these pelts are craft grade quality, great for tanning practice or for your other needs.  These pelts are AIR-DRIED and will need to be tanned!

Following are for sale:

Red Coyote- $55 plus shipping (has slight rub on tail but otherwise excellent quality!)

Dark Coyote- $20 plus shipping (rubbed badly, great practice pelt for tanning)

Red Fox (146-F)- $15 plus shipping

Red Fox (166-A)- $15 plus shipping

Red Fox (166-B)- $10 plus shipping (matted fur on the back, thin fur on the belly due to being a female)

Large coyote is not for sale!  I’m looking for someone that could get this pelt tanned up for me and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Here’s what was my haul from the fur auction this year!

Sadly I for once didn’t get a lot of coyotes this year which was disappointing since a lot of them had feet and a good chunk of them were actually decent!  But when they were going for $30 to $40 a coyote that I couldn’t bidding for them knowing I would have to charge over $100 for them later one.  I managed to grab a few red foxes here and there include one that was already tanned?  I’ve never seen that there in my years of attending the auction.

I was however very lucky with snagging a ranch Cross Fox, there was a few ranch reds and one ranch silver but I managed to get the cross.  I believe this one is a girl and talking with the rancher who was sitting next to be at the auction told me her tail is naturally short due to another fox bit part of it off a long time ago.  It was nice getting to talk with this gentlemen, I’ve purchased from in in the past and he’s a very nice person and he generally raises a lot of the common ranch color foxes versus the really crazy colors.  He’s also very knowledgeable of the fur market so it was good insight on what was worth going after this year.

Overall was a lot of fun!  I even was getting into bidding wars with a guy behind me and kept giving him the stink eye out of good fun.  Probably will be adding the red fox and the very large coyote into my Etsy shop in due time.  Ranch fox I decided to keep for now.  I was told she was skinned out for taxidermy but I’ll be waiting for where I’m sending her off to for tanning to give me the word on that.

At the fur auction!

Not a lot of color phase animals it seems. Couple nice coyotes, several things with feet and skinned out possibly for taxidermy? However several ranch foxes are in the auction too.

Fur auction haul for 2017!  Because of reasons that I did not go all out like I normally do with the furs, mostly because I still have a lot of tanned furs listed in my Etsy Shop currently.

That said even though I did scored a lot of pelts this year, I did get some rather unique pelts in the haul that I really have not see before nor have I see those colors up for auction either.  Either way, pretty happy with what I got and hopefully all these will go quick.

As promised since people expressed interest in buy the pelts as is, they all are available to purchase for a limited time.  If interested, please message me the one you want and I’ll get back to you.  This must be done ASAP because after Wednesday they’ll be off to the tannery and will not be available until they return.

These are RAW DRIED/TRAPPER DRIED pelts and are not suitable for taxidermy but excellent for crafts/garments or for hides to practice tanning on.  Considering some are not the best and they are raw, I’m going to be offering them for excellent prices so do not miss out!

Fur Auction Today!

Currently on my way to the NJ Fur Auction for today.  As said cutting back buying a bit this year due to money and that I still have a lot of my stock right now.  Mostly will be focused on buying color phases and oddities is the game plan to keep myself in check.

That said as also mentioned a few weeks ago that the pelts I get will be available for purchase upon getting the photos up later tonight.  This will be a limited time though, you’ll have until Wednesday for those that want to purchase them as raw dried pelts.  After Wednesday they’ll be off to the tannery and will be listed upon return from there.
