With the time skip update.
I know a lot of you are very excited by the time skip update from Furudate that will come during August. I have seen a lot of post saying; if this and this ship isn't canon- I will do xyz. Or something in that matter. I just really dislike that kind of mindset, and while most of it is just people joking around- some might take it to heart and get really disappointed and then angry at the creators.
Shipping and making head canons about characters is all fun and games, but it's just that. Just something we can do as a way to explore characters we find interesting. Our fantasies about them are just that and not a reflection on the creators true intent or an actually representation of the story or characters. Which is important to remember.
I just don't want this to become that BNHA drama that appeared when the last chapter got published and people started to saying that is was AI and not Horikoshi real work. That is so disrespectful and was so awful to watch. People literally filmed themselves having meltdowns and screaming because Ochako and Deku ended up together and not whatever ship they had made up.
The haikyuu fandom is pretty healthy (as far as i have experienced), but I just want people to not behave like that. Because in every fandom there are "bad" eggs. People that tend to think their own options, imagination and head canons about certain aspects for the character or story is actually something that will happen; will just disappoint themselves.
Remember haikyuu hasn't really focused on romantic relationships, except for a few characters, it is japanese produced and even thought we see a lot more manga's nowdays that are have their alternate spin on BL and GL, haikyuu just isn't one of them. I think that is fine. I fell in love with the story and the characters building connections through a common sport and finding ways to live their life and relate to people beyond' the sport. Actually; It's really just the underdog story for Hinata...but that is just touching the surface. But as much of a tsukiyama-shipper, kuroken-shipper, kagehina-shipper or bokuaka-shipper you are or I am; that just wont be the canon. And that is okay. To be honest; if TsukiYama is endgame; then I will genuinely think Furudate had a stroke while thinking about the time skip.
My bets are on:
Daichi and Michimiya ( think that is somewhat of a canon already)
Yamaguchi and Yachi. Teased a little bit, but they would be so cute together.
Daishou and Mika (although mika do think that she is in a love triangle between her, daidhou and Kuroo lol)
Tanaka and Shimizu are already engaged? Maybe we will see small kiddos??
Maybe Takeda have a kid or something now and Ukai has a fiance?

Just don't let this ruin haikyuu for you and don't ruin haikyuu for someone else either. We have lived so far and made HC about the same characters since the manga got published and even more so after the anime came- you can still engage in the same way no matter who's ending up with who. You can still have the enjoyment out of it. You can still make head canons about the same ship over and over again. And as much as it have impacted some of us on a more personal basis- at the end of the day: It's a story about volleyball and connections.
And I think if you are upset by the news when they get published; you are the one that are stopped the fun you had with it; not anyone else- Much less Furudate.
So let's be excited for the update and be happy that we get engagement from the creators, because they still make offical art about haikyuu and engage in the time skip story line because we as the fandom engage so much with haikyuu.

(me being happy with whatever, since I still can get access to my fave manga/anime that still have updates years after the ending happened. Don't care who's with who, as long as i can engage with haikyuu; I wont complain.)
