A quick fanart from a moment in PurpleCompromise's "This is Where We Are Now", that gives me some real shivers. I'm gonna do some more of tehse, and I hope you like. Go read their stuff!
“Doktor—”
“Heavy, please.” Medic rubs his temples, then fixes you in an icy gaze. He sighs. “You didn’t know, of course. These two, however, should know better!” His jaw tightens as your gaze flicks to your boots. “You expected respawn to catch you, ja? That is your definition of ‘fine’? It will be long time before you begin bleed out, you know.”
As you’d realized originally, this is stupid. The whole thing. The four of you are wasting time.
“I can stop zhe bleeding, but without your trigger finger…” Another short, lingering sigh; the sound curls in the air, sharp and cold. “Turn around, bitte.”
You’re no fool.
But you do.

This is a lovely piece FuryFire surprised me with earlier this week! I’m just... so excited and flattered and love that one of my little scenes could inspire a lovely illustration! This is actually one of my favorite moments as well.
Plus, seeing this piece made me make a connection I hadn't before, between that scene in chapter 15 and the most recent in chapter 39 where Specialist has to essentially perform the same act. I already knew I liked the symmetry of it, but here's what the art made me realize: Medic makes her turn around when he mercy kills the Specialist, but when she mercy kills him, they maintain eye contact the whole time. So--thank you for making that realization possible and for sharing your lovely artwork with me!
