Travelcompanion: an angry bird with a matching mustache - Those birds can serious ravage a house, an ozzie travelling with me casually mentioned, pointing at the cupious amounts of mynah around us at breakfast. The Mynah-birds were in abundance during my travels in Fiji, and later in Oz. These smart and naughty starlings have close to no restrictions on what they are able to do to get fed. They live well of the food people have, and sometimes they even let us finished our part of the meal before they started eating the remains. Or, simply do to enjoy themselves. My Brisbane-friends warning I took to heart, especially after one of these birds came strolling into my hut in Kuata Island. He was walking with the confidence of a proprietor inspecting his newly acquired house. This jungle mynah lacks the yellow eye mask of the common mynah, but have this feather mustache instead. It origins from India, but has followed the people migrating from there into the rest of Asia, Pacific and Zealandia. In the Pacific they were introduced as a natural pest and insect controller in the sugar cane plants.
