XV8-11b Polypheme Crisis Battlesuit - WIP PART 1.
Here are som WIP pics of my current project! Ever since I saw the awesome stuff Sten did with his winning XV88 entry from GDUK 2013 I’ve really wanted to do a battlesuit too!
I decided early on that I wanted to build a converted experimental suit mark and paint it in Bork’an Sept Colors. I’m calling it the
XV8-11b Polypheme Crisis Battlesuit.
Ok, so I wanted build a suit that had been altered to be more heavily armored than the XV8-05 yet not as bulky as a Broadside. I wanted it to look large and powerful but at the same time like it still retained a lot of it’s original mobility.
I really like the weapon mounts of the XV9 and converted the weapons to fit underneath the arms rather than alongside them.
The flamer is attached to the right arm on a slender arm mount with extra oxygen induction integrated into the arm.
The left arm has a fusion blaster attached with a much more robust mount that looks like it can handle the kickback better and the gun also has a foregrip added to maximize accuracy.
Another change is how the primary sensor cluster has been divided and spread out. The new streamlined casing only leaves room for a couple sensors, the main one being an enlarged wide angle optical lens that I imagine would drastically improve the suit’s peripheral vision.
As you guys probably can tell I put a lot (some might say too much?) thought into the conversion. But then that’s probably why I’m really happy with how it’s all looking right now so I guess it’s almost time to start painting this bad boy!
P.S. Most of the cords and wires coming down from the head are actually going to disappear into the body of the suit, I just made them extra long in case you’d be able to see down there from som weird angle, you’d see the wires continue instead of them just ending.
P.P.S. Roger had a great idea for this guy’s base that I’ve completely stolen and am also working on right now! Click here to check it out in Part 2!
