Miles was born in Newark, New Jersey and grew up in North Plainfield, New Jersey.

He joined the musicians union at age nine in 1956 as a child prodigy drummer/pianist/vibist appearing with Miles Davis and John Coltrane among other talents of the day live and on TV shows including To Tell the Truth, Dick Van Dyke's variety show, and The Andy Williams Show. He made his solo artist debut recording at age fourteen in 1961, "Miles Of Genius", as drummer and composer with sidemen Al Hall and Duke Jordan.[9] Miles continued to perform with his own band in the early 1960s in which he composed the material that enabled up and coming talents such as Woody Shaw, Eddie Gómez and Robin Kenyatta to display their talents.

While a student at Princeton University, Miles concentrated his efforts on his piano playing, recording a live album in 1966 entitled Barry Miles Presents His Syncretic Compositions. He applied the philosophical term "syncretic" to music, defining the process of melding any combination of musical influences and styles together in the improvisational jazz idiom with originality. The combination of Miles's early jazz influences, his early Rock and roll background from the late 1950s and early 1960s, and his innovative "melting pot of musical styles" concept, resulted in this recording.

Miles followed this release in 1969 with the eponymously titled album, Barry Miles, incorporating electric instruments including the electric piano.

In 1971, Miles recruited his brother Terry Silverlight on drums along with guitarists Pat Martino and John Abercrombie to record his White Heat album which is regarded as one of the pioneering fusion jazz recordings.

For the next decade, Miles recorded several albums in which he developed the principle of fusing styles together in jazz.

In the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, Miles embarked upon a prolific career as a keyboardist and Minimoog soloist on many recordings in the heyday of studio work, while working as Roberta Flack's musical director for a stint that lasted fifteen years. During that time, he composed, produced and recorded songs that Flack recorded in the film Bustin' Loose, and on her album Oasis. After Al Di Meola's stint as the guitarist in Miles's band on live performances and Miles's PBS special "Fusion Suite" in 1973, a long-lasting relationship developed between Miles and DiMeola that resulted in Miles's frequent appearances as keyboardist on DiMeola's albums along with co-production credits.

Roine Stolt is one of my favourite guitarists and song writers of all time. Many of you might not know who he is, but through his co-lab with Jon Anderson (they released an album in 2016 called Invention of Knowledge) and through him having been a member of Steve Hackett’s band, you might at least know of him. He’s also the founder and band ‘leader’ of the highly successful progressive rock band The Flower Kings, that were one of the flagship bands of the 3rd wave prog era in the mid-late 1990s. He’s also a member of a number of other bands, most of them are in the tags below. His soulful style, beautiful guitar tone and endless dedication makes him one of the big names in prog rock- you SHOULD REALLY check him out if you aren’t already a fan. He recently released an album called ‘Manifesto of an Alchemist’ which is amazing. ALL HAIL THE FLOWER KING!  💐 🌷 🌹 🥀 🌺 🌸 🌼 🌻

Réfléchissez également sur ce qui est appelé “montée des populismes” en Europe, sur la notion de populisme, est-elle définie par ceux qui emploient ce terme en permanence, est-elle une notion exclusivement négative, est-elle opposable à la notion d’élites, que sont aujourd’hui les élites en France et dans des pays comparables, la notion d’élitisme est-elle accolable à celle d’élite ? Si vous voulez travailler à la paix réelle en France et en Europe, montez des structures politiques ou associatives qui sortent des canevas qui fatiguent tout le monde, de l’esprit partisan, du manque de discernement. Unity can be Strength - Don’t Let all the Room to abusers.

Courage is actually rare, and therefore, seems something hard to implement. It’s, mainly, because it’s a road we have lost the habit a long time ago to walk, if ever we did. I have often spoken, mainly on Facebook, of the taming of children and how they very soon lose their capacity of constructively say no. I have also shown the video of the song The Wall by Pink Floyd which shows this extremely well in the school field. It’s this collective taming and habit to hide that allow abusers to keep on abusing. Something we have all forgotten, in this hidden and easy comfort, is that the saying “Unity is strength” is not a cliché even it not always true. What has to be kept in mind about this saying is that one, plus one, then another, we are already less alone, and one more, and one more, and it creates a force of opposition to evil. If you’re not sure to win against the abusers, at least bother them, as much as you can, show them you’re here, and that you KNOW. The Time used concert guitar pick. They are known for the association with Prince in the 1980’s. They have hits like “Jungle Love” , “Get it up” and “Giggolos get lonely to” pretty awsome band. If I’m not mistaken they even was a part of the Purple Rain movie starring Prince 1984.
