A tale as old as time || Claryson
∟ Prompt: Babysitting
∟ Featuring: Jameson Finn, Lucas Finn and Malarie Cain.
A house full of screaming kids was exactly what Clary had gotten used to. He had no idea when he went from the guy who would trip kids over type the guy who was trusted with other people's children. Having his own children was probably a reason for that but it still baffled Clary. At that moment, he wished he had remained the first type of guy. Three kids were a handful most of the time but adding the Cain kids to the mix was just asking for a headache.
"Right, movie time." Clary proclaimed after picking up the tenth piece of lego he had stepped on. It was hard enough to keep in his curses and anger so movie time was the only choice. Once the kids were all sitting in a row, Clary went to work on picking a movie. It came down to a vote between Cars and Beauty and the Beast. With three boys and two girls, Clary was certain Cars would win but apparently one glare from little Malarie had Lucas changing his mind quick smart.
With Beauty and the Beast in the player, Clary waited until the kids were quiet and settled with their bowl of popcorn that Jameson made before he went to cleaning. Five kids made twice as much mess as three kids could make apparently. Jameson was thoroughly enjoying all the extra noise and fun whereas Clary couldn't understand where Jameson got the energy from. It had to be a perk from being nine years younger.
Yelling broke out from the living room and Clary made his way in, ready to break up whatever fight it would be. What he didn't expect to see was a very upset looking Malarie who was standing over a scared looking Lucas. "Little Mal, what's going on?" Clary asked, kneeling down so he could look her in the eyes.
"Luca won't dance." She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. Clary's eyes went to the screen and he noticed "A Tale as Old as Time" had come on and Malarie wanted to waltz along with Belle and the Beast.
He stood up, holding his hand out to Malarie. "Well it's your lucky day because I'll dance with you. Is that okay?" He asked. Malarie's face lit up and she quickly took his hands before slipping her feet on to his. He recognised the way she stepped on him from Melody, it was just the way little girls danced with their fathers apparently.
They slowly waltzed around the living room, Clary making sure that they wouldn't bump into anything. Melody, feeling left out, ran off to grab Jameson's hand and dragged him into the living room to dance as well. The song was slowly coming to an end when it was abruptly cut off. Clary turned to see Lucas standing up with the remote control and looking grumpy. It turned out, he was rewinding the movie back to the beginning of the song.
With an amused smirk, Clary watched as Lucas stood stubbornly at his side and held out his hand for Malarie. "Dad, I want to dance with Mal."
Malarie's green eyes brightened and she quickly let go of Clary and went straight into Lucas's arms. Once the movie started again, Lucas led Malarie in a waltz that he must've have learned from Jameson and Clary. Melody had obviously gotten bored of the dancing and went back to eating popcorn, leaving Clary and Jameson standing together.
It was just natural for Clary to take Jameson's hand and for them to start their own dance. Clary held Jameson close as they moved around the lounge room together, spinning in small circles and smiling at each other. "Maybe we should have another baby." Jameson mumbled, nuzzling against Clary's neck.
Clary looked over his shoulder and the kids sitting together, being nice to one another and even the cuteness that was Lucas and Malarie. Leaning back, he looking Jameson in the eyes before kissing his lips softly. "Not a chance in hell, sunshine."
