Jason shot up in bed, a gasp and a burning sensation in his left palm. The anchor he hissed, reaching to grip his wrist but his right hand found only air. His eyes darted to the space where his left hand was supposed to be….supposed to be…
oh yeah… In his brief moments of nightmare filled sleep he had managed to forget what had happened not too long ago. His eyes focused quickly in the dark, staring at his arm or lack-there-of.
The feelings and thoughts that filled him were indescribably, his brow furrowed, eyes watering a little. It was gone, but he could feel it.
He felt the pain of the anchor trying to consume the limb that no longer existed. The weight of the limb that had no mass. He wanted to pick his arm up, move his fingers and see what his mind told him he was feeling. But it wasn’t possible.. There was nothing there and he was afraid the movement would break the illusion, and everything would feel so much worse.
