I don't like the way they portrayed Smithers here.. it’s. ugh.. sad, but still want to share.. After Mr. Burns offers Bart the scholarship, they have an extended exchange in the script, with Bart saying he couldn't even finish his S.A.T.'s, with Mr. Burns saying for the answers you don't know, just put “A”, and Bart asking if “A” is the one that looks like a little tent.

Interesting change here, after Smithers comes back to Mr. Burns' house with his female date, Bart has a line, “Mr. Smithers? I thought you were, you know, a...” & then as aired Smithers has his line about being straight. But in the script Bart finishes his sentence, “a man fan.”

Also during this exchange, in the script Smithers says, “No, I'm straight now.” as aired, “now” is cut, suggesting he never came out. Also there is a direction to have him stick the syringe in his rear buttocks (as opposed to front buttocks?) but as aired it's in his arm.
