It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally decided to ditch the future smash memes title and turn this page into a general smash bros/nintendo blog rather than structuring it around any specific gimmick.

It’s been over five years since I officially went on “hiatus,” and since then I’ve had no desire to go back to the old structure of consistently making future smash memes (for those who don’t remember, I used to crank them out daily) under the kayfabe of being a multiversal prophet. Both having to keep up the act in a sort of pseudo-RP and making daily content for something that, by design, does not exist was super draining for me. Plus, I can’t help but cringe at a lot of my old posts, both at the memes themselves and the person I was when I made them.

At this point I think it’s for the best to just completely drop the future smash memes name altogether, both to leave it open for someone else to use if they wanna pick up the torch and so no one who looks at this blog from now on gets confused. To be honest I’m more shocked that “final-smash” wasn’t already taken.

If you ever feel nostalgic for those old memes, here’s every post and meme I made under the future smash memes brand. This archive is also now readily available in the blog’s description, as is the old hall of fame (the FAQ and old Discord server are gone). My old tagging system came in handy :P

Going forward I’m gonna mostly keep doing what I’ve been doing here for the last year or so, reblogging fanart/news/posts/etc. for Smash-adjacent series while peppering in some of my own posts every so often. Maybe I’ll even make a meme or two, but I can almost guarantee you that they won’t be in the same style as the old future smash memes.

Thank you guys for supporting the blog’s sensational run from 2019-2020. Despite all my complaining I loved interacting with everyone’s crazy headcanons and predictions in my inbox, and it was always a treat to wake up to a dozen or so likes on every meme. I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything, and you guys helped make that possible. Take a bow for helping make future smash memes what it was.

POV: GTA Character DOWN-B

Last night, I had a dream Smash Bros was a big RPG with a giant, complicated story and it was amazing. Some highlights:

- Mario acts and talks like a tortured hero. Like, just imagined a depressed, sobered Mario completely devoid of any emotion other than resigned depression

- "Animal Crossing has lost its soul." - Mario

- Every time a Fire Emblem character shows up, they are animated and act like they're in a Zelda CD-I YouTube Poop

- Like, Roy(?) is protecting someone and fights Marth(?) only for Roy to stab Marth in the head, have a shitty blood splash effect plays

- After this, Marth decides to work with Roy, completely unharmed by being stabbed in the brain

- The Xeno 1 and Xeno 2 parties encounter each other and fight. Mostly Melia who is dual weilding short swords and Nia who is using Freddy Kruger glove blades

- It was actually pretty dope

- Also Melia has cat ears for some reason

- Mario takes a halo from Pit’s head and it's actually a ring from Sonic

- “An angel is supposed to be lawful neutral.“ - Mario, attacking Pit

Wow people are still mad about that huh

I suppose you could see it that way, but the truth is that I had felt burnt out from Future Smash Memes long before I even considered writing this fic. This is a project that I feel much more optimistic about, too—I have an actual plotline for Iron Touch rather than “writing” by the seat of my pants and adding new “plot” elements on the fly like I did for Subspace 2, I’m actually telling a story rather than using old meme templates and stock images to make out of context jokes, and most importantly, I’m in full control of the plot and characters and not at the whims of people in my ask box requesting for characters I could care less about.

Future Smash Memes was me following on a trend that I felt obligated to keep going after I saw how popular the blog had become. Iron Touch is me writing an actual story that I want to tell.

Has anyone else ever done the blast zone clip glitch?

I was playing Smash while at a college party and a guy there taught me a trick where if you get hit while offscreen on the same frame that someone else loses their stock, the game becomes confused and you’ll clip through the blast zone and fall forever without dying. It’s basically impossible to set up in singles, but if you’re really good with timing and your teammate is playing a character with a projectile, you can essentially stall out the enemy team indefinitely in doubles and they’ll have no way of hitting you (even if they also perform the glitch and are playing a character with a fast falling speed, they’ll have no way of knowing if they’re close to you or not). Depending on how many stocks ahead you are, it’s essentially an instant win button. You can also pull off the glitch with characters that spawn items that can hurt them like Snake’s C4 or Link’s bombs, or with something like Sephiroth’s shadow flare (side special).

I ask this because I’ve never seen anyone else pull this glitch off before. I can’t find anything about it on the Smash wiki, either. I’d ask the guy how he found it out, but I don’t remember his name and haven’t seen him since the party. I’ve spent the last week or so trying to recreate the glitch on my own but I can’t get the timing right. Doesn’t help that none of my friends believe me and won’t help me do it.

I’m also scared of asking somewhere like Reddit or Smashboards, so if anyone could share this there that’d be much appreciated.

It's not the usual memes, but I've made a bunch of different Palutena's Guidances for future smash characters. The first one I have queued up is for Sephiroth because he was the only fighter I actually predicted, but after that it will be entirely new characters, and not the Ultimate DLC fighters. You couldn't make me do Minecraft Steve if you put a gun to my head.

Also, before anyone asks, I'm only going to be doing Palutena's Guidance, not Snake Codecs. I don't know enough about Metal Gear to confidently do the characters justice.
