Another episode of Reading Way Too Deep Into Until Dawn
So to get the Josh's good ending, you have to do certain things, right?
Avoid hitting/attacking or verbally disparaging him more than necessary(because doing so will lock his sympathetic dialogue options)
Have him express guilt to Dr Hill(dialogue options "they hurt me" and "I'm sorry")
You have to find Hannah's cave journal as Sam so that she'll tell him the truth and he and Hannah will recognize each other
Most importantly, and probably hardest to do, you can't let anyone get killed by a wendigo til after he's walked through the mines with Mike
If anyone has been killed by a wendigo to that point, their body will be hung up with the flamethrower guy's, Josh will feel too guilty, and you'll just get the wendigo Josh ending even if you did everything else right.
Now let's look at who can actually die, and you can still get Josh's good ending
Jessica can die after he's passed through the mines, during her section with Matt
Matt can fall off the cliff, and can also die in the same scene as Jessica
Emily can be shot by Mike in the safe room, or die in the lodge at the end
Ashley, Mike and Sam can all die in the lodge at the end
So who is it, who's the only person who can never die if you want to get Josh's good ending?
Chris
Chris can only die in two places, either running back to the lodge after the flamethrower guy is killed, or by the trapdoor wendigo when the group is going to find Mike. Both by wendigos, and before Josh can pass through the mines.
Josh can not survive if Chris dies. If he thinks he killed his best friend by bringing the group back to the mountain, he can't make it. Everyone else can die, and you can still get Josh's good ending. There is no Josh solo survivor ending(unless you count the wendigo one), because if Chris dies, even if you did everything else right, he won't be able to handle it.
