Hello!! We are in the process of moving and trying to come up with, you know, living expenses. how is das2 het/misogynist? (really curious, open question)
eva ohnoproblems has written some longer posts on gender in souls stuff but the short version is (mega spoilers ahead btw) that where in other souls games the main character was a blank slate in every way, in this one there's that stuff in the beginning that implies that he (this character is generally assumed male, an aberration that makes all lady cursebearers trans btw, which is a bit of an unexpected side effect imo) had a wife + children (LORD SOULS TOO KMY WIFE) etc.
more importantly tho the currently coalescing reading of ds2 in the ~fan community~ (and which the text of the game seems to intend) or w/e is that vendrick was a poor set-upon king who Did What He Had To to protect his kingdom from the evil foreign woman invader (nashandra).
theres also a lot more misogyny in the sorcery lore and there aren't any high-level sorcery or hex trainers or users who are ladies (in pretty significant contrast to, like, the witch from des, dusk, etc) and generally the lore is a lot more misogynist.

point is that ds2 is much more about more mainstream/conventional narratives w/r/t gender and less about the sort of subversiveness that was always present in the souls games
