You/Stay by Joey Green
Soothing. Relaxing. Enticing. Mellow. These are just a few words that can describe “You/Stay” by Joey Green (formerly Sophisticated) featuring Chanel. I’m definitely adding this to my Roast Up playlist (music I listen to when I’m stoned). Joey Green’s deep voice provides the perfect antithesis to the smooth, easygoing beat produced by FVCKSOCI3TY and Subdaio. These two do a hell of a job on the track, kudos to those guys. The beat breakdown at 1:43 is super effective in transition and serves as a gateway into the more mellow, laid back portion of the song. Immediately you’re absorbed into another dimension of mellowness and wonder; Chanel serves as your seductive intergalactic tour guide with her soothing vocals.
Once your trippy spaceship lands, Joey Green picks up where Chanel left off and gives us his spiel of romantic rhymes and he does a great job as not coming off as mushy and oversensitive. I enjoyed having “You/Stay” on repeat while my fingers punched the keys of the letters composing this here review.
Just because it seems I don't care anymore, I still do.
