Two characters who definitely don't seem like they'd be part of the same project, and yet!
This is Meitrt (xe/xir/xem) and Madeline (they/them), protagonists in a little concept I've been working on.
Meitrt conducts tests on creatures from various different dimensions, at xir superior's instruction. However things become strange as xe is instructed to test the same creature, from the same dimension, several times in a row. Now Meitrt finds xemself in a dilemma.
Madeline is a usual 17 y/o, isolated from others, and is a very dedicated cryptid hunter. Most people would find themselves relatively disconcerted after being transported to a different plain of existence and made to perform tests, but Madeline is not most people.
Every time Madeline finds themselves transported back into this bizarre test chamber, they're inclined to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes. But with only the word of a single examinant to go off of, it's proving to be quite a difficult task.
