“unwanted memory” perfectly captures what it’s like trying to forget something. the way trying to forget only makes you remember more.
It’s a pity when we need to give the memories of people we once loved negative connotations in order to forget, that was in the back of my mind when writing it. Then, I didn’t know what was worse; being the one who needs to forget, or being the one that needs to be forgotten. It seems so unnecessary. I mean, why can’t we keep these memories in the pureness of when we lived them? But then again, moving on can be an arduous task. Especially if the heart doesn’t want to. I guess it’s just the mind’s counteraction. A natural coping mechanism.
