10.20.17 was National Day on Writing and Jhené Aiko took a TRIP to her old school “Baldwin Hills Elementary”. She visited a lucky class and her favorite teacher (4th and 5th grade) Ms. Joy. She talked to the students about the impact writing has had on her life and shared that her favorite poem is: Nobody by Emily Dickinson (which inspired 2 songs off of her album “Nobody” and “Oblivion”. A few students volunteered to share their poems with Jhené and she even read one of hers to them. She also sang “Promises” to them, with Nami who she brought along for the experience. It was very, very sweet.
All of this was in partnership with @getschooledu for Jhené’s campaign #PennysPen (if you write, and you’re between the ages of 13-21 click the link to enter the giveaway)
