See and that’s the thing like I’ve written about my annoyance whenever blackface pops up in anime I’m watching but guess what? BLACKFACE IS A THING IN JAPAN BECAUSE OF WHITE IMPERIALISM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Yeah, and like, I don't want to comment on this too much because I'm neither Japanese nor Black (or both at the same time), so this isn't really a discussion I say much about without looking foolish eventually, and obviously, I don't want to downplay any responsibility the creators of anime/manga works have as well for making those choices, but yeah, white/Western cultural imperialism plays a big part in a lot of racist stuff in non-Western works as well, and that needs to be taken into account (and again, I'm not saying that totally absolve anyone of personal responsibility either, in case it sounds like that's what I'm suggesting).

yeah that's what it sounds like to me. but are they in the same universe, like the agents of shield show and every are?

Yeah, I'm fine with little Easter Eggs and whatnot, plus if you're going to do a viral thing and need a reporter credit, you may as well use a comic canon name when there are so many of them rather than using an OC (though I'm wary of the TASM franchise because they do seem to be moving towards the Sinister Six for real, but I don't think even they would include Ned Leeds as the Hobgoblin or 'She-Venom').

But yeah, for some reason, fandom is REALLY going all-out these days with wild conjecture on CBMs (I guess studios fan it a bit though) -- it's like for Spider-Man specifically, people are forgetting that in the Raimi trilogy, we had characters like Mendel Stromm, Curt Connors, and John Jameson show up as cameos without ever becoming supervillains, so X being mentioned has a precedent for 'not necessarily becoming a major villain', and just, yeah, it's so facepalm-y when it goes beyond fun speculation.

I found some videos here (though obviously with tt in place of the xx in the url), though I haven't tested them yet -- I usually go to that Watch Cartoons Online site to watch USM, but unless something has changed within the last ten minutes, I don't think they have anything for the new episode up yet.

I was just reading this article on SHH! about how the official TASM tumblr that Sony is running did something that hints that we'll see Spider-Slayers in TASM2 or a future film? It could just be trying to make the TASM video game canon, though that's so confusing because it seems like whether it's canon or not for the franchise as a whole keeps changing.

But yeah, I'm just boggled at how much they seem to be crying to cram into the second film/franchise at this point, especially when the first film was pretty small on a lot of levels. It really does feel like Sony wants this reboot franchise to turn into their MCU.
